Hide and Seek

March 18

“The kingdom of heaven is like a treasure hidden in the field; which a man found and hid; and from joy over it he goes and sells all that he has, and buys that field. Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant seeking fine pearls, and upon finding one pearl of great value, he went and sold all that he had, and bought it.” - Matthew 13:44-46

▶︎ LISTEN TO THE DEVOTIONAL

What do these two men have in common? The pearl merchant was probably rich, while the farmer was most likely poor, but they both got the Kingdom of God. What was the requirement they each fulfilled? They sold everything! If you want new life, you have to give up the old life. All of it? Yes – every bit of it. What do you have to give up?

Trust God to let you know what it is. “Lord, I give You everything I am and everything I’ll ever be.” Pray that prayer, and you will be amazed at what happens. Isn’t it worth it to surrender everything, in order to receive all that God has prepared for His children?  I’d say that is a pretty smart trade.
