The Dirt: Green Thumbs in the Garden

Digging

Happy Springtime! Care to cultivate your green thumb while also learning about sustainability? Come to the University of Arizona Community Garden! Founded by UArizona's Students for Sustainability, the student-run garden acts as a living laboratory and space for community engagement, relationship building, and closer connections with nature.

Volunteering at the garden is an excellent opportunity for students, faculty, and community members to support year-round maintenance and gain real-life experience in sustainable agricultural practices in the Sonoran Desert. Additionally, volunteers can donate the vegetables they grow in the greenhouse to the Campus Pantry, create art in nature, and observe the pollinators in action. Garden workdays are every Friday and Sunday from 4:00 – 6:00 PM during the spring semester. Tools are provided, but don't forget to bring your water bottle!

Whether you're a seasoned gardener or just interested in learning about sustainability, the Community Garden welcomes everyone with open arms. So head on down to 1400 E. Mabel St., and let's grow together!
