Explore the New NFHTA Learning Pathway: Understand Racial Bias in Appraisals

A new Learning Pathway from HUD’s National Fair Housing Training Academy (NFHTA) and the Interagency Property Appraisal and Valuation Equity (PAVE) Task Force is now available on the HUD Exchange.

NFHTA presents the Understand Racial Bias in Appraisals Learning Pathway in line with bold efforts detailed in the President's PAVE Task Force Action Plan.

In this Learning Pathway, you will learn about racial bias in appraisals, how it negatively impacts the ability to effectively advance property appraisal and valuation equity, and how to support those impacted.

How is this Learning Pathway helpful?

This Learning Pathway helps fair housing practitioners and others learn about appraisals and appraisal bias, a pervasive issue that contributes to the widening wealth gap in many communities of color across America, and how racial bias in home valuations limits the financial returns associated with homeownership, thereby contributing to the already sprawling racial wealth gap.

One-Year Anniversary of the PAVE Action Plan

Explore the PAVE Action Plan and read the White House Fact Sheet on the critical progress that the PAVE Task Force is making to advance racial equity in appraisals.
