Pi Day Fun!

Students in kindergarten, first, and second grades worked on a wonderful art project that combined Pi day, Black History Month, and Women's History Month with Mrs. Jones.  They created class pieces based on a painting by Alma Woodsey Thomas. Shown here are rooms 103 and 109.  Be on the lookout for 1st and 2nd grade pieces when you visit for conferences this month!  A great book to share with your children is "Alma's Art" by Roda Ahmed and Anita Cheung.

Pi day was also celebrated in middle school by holding a competition to see who could memorize the most digits of pi.  Shout out to our top 3 students:

In 8th grade Reilly Mayer got to 44 digits

In 7th Grade Connor Holt and Olivia Hommel tied at 61 digits

In 6th grade Anna Sparks got to 43 digits

Honorable mentions for a very good try to James Rowland at 41 digits, Kirby Lampe-Shanaman at 36, and Madden Branigan at 21
