Firm restates commitment to safe marine operations, reaches milestone

Zircon Marine, an indigenous Nigerian firm, has restated commitment to safe marine operations in the country. The Guardian checks revealed that the firm has reached a new milestone with its 3000th Transshipment, which was marked by a successful STS transshipment between MT BORA and MT LION.


Chief Executive of Zircon Marine, Seyi Ajibola, described the milestone as a celebration of excellence, leadership and focused delivery that has brought significant benefits to Nigeria and Nigerians.

WIEN to FG: Prioritise gender diversity, inclusiveness in your administration

As part of efforts to boost women inclusion in the oil and gas sector, the Women in Energy Network (WIEN) has called on the incoming government to prioritise gender diversity in his soon-to-be-constituted administration by increasing the number of women at the senior management level of the energy industry including Ministries, agencies, and departments from 12 per cent to 35%.

Speaking in Lagos, Mrs Funmi Ogbue, National President of Women in Energy Network (WEIN), represented by Mrs Charlotte Essiet, member, Board of Trustee, WEIN, said this was of utmost importance to the group.

Shell resumes crude oil export operations at Bonny Terminal

Shell Petroleum Development Company (SPDC) on Wednesday announced the resumption of oil exports from the Bonny crude oil export terminal. The resumption follows the lifting of force majeure on crude oil exports at the facility.


Force majeure is a provision that relieves the parties from performing their contractual obligations when certain circumstances beyond their control arise. The SPDC had in March 2022 declared a force majeure on the Bonny Light oil export programme beginning from 3 March, citing a decline in flows to the export terminal.

Eroton speaks on OML 18 takeover by NNPCL

Eroton Exploration and Production Company Limited says it remains the operator of Oil Mining Lease 18, in line with the provisions of the Joint Operating Agreement (JOA).


The company in a statement on Monday said it was a validly appointed operator of OML 18 via a legal and contractual process involving all the participating entities in the JOA. It added that it has approached the relevant courts to defend its legal rights.


The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited and OML18 Energy Limited, both non-operating partners of Oil Mining Lease 18, recently announced the removal of Eroton as the operator of the joint venture.

Suez Canal sees its highest daily crossing rate ever

The Suez Canal recorded the highest daily crossing rate in its history as 107 ships crossed from multiple directions of the canal with a total net tonnage of 6.3 million tons, the head of the Suez Canal Authority Osama Rabie announced.


Fifty-six ships passed through the canal from the northern direction with a net tonnage of 3.4 million tons, while 51 ships crossed from the southern direction with a total net tonnage of 2.9 million tons.


Rabie stressed that the huge boom in the daily transit rates in the canal would not have been possible without the new Suez Canal project.

Abu Dhabi Maritime launches online booking platform for Public Water Transport

ABU DHABI, 20th March, 2023 (WAM) -- Abu Dhabi Maritime, part of AD Ports Group’s cooperation with the Department of Municipalities and Transport (DMT), has announced the launch of an online booking platform to serve passengers on all Abu Dhabi Public Water Transport routes.


Available through the Abu Dhabi Maritime website, the platform will support ticket reservation and online payment options while also offering real-time booking notifications.


By integrating Abu Dhabi Maritime’s digital and physical assets, the system will provide quick and easy booking for passengers at their convenience without the need for manual transactions at the terminal.
