March PCC Update

The PCC met on Monday. We continued our discussion of the issues of marriage and same-sex blessing that are occupying the Church of England at the moment; we will return to them at our next meeting. The other main item on our agenda was a presentation from Rob Dillingham from Church House who we'd invited to help us better understand what the parish share is and where it goes. We agreed to making a planning application for a wooden shed to replace the Tiger Cubs marquee behind the Stables. We adopted a framework for reporting serious incidents, as required by the diocese and Charity Commission. As well as receiving reports from our various committees and groups, we received the annual accounts ahead of our annual church meeting in May.

Seniors' Pastor

On Monday we interviewed for the Seniors' Pastor role at All Saints, but I'm sorry to have to report that we weren't able to make an appointment. We are hugely grateful to those who applied. Please continue to pray for the right person for this important role in our church family. Pray too for Jennie Herring and Ken and Katharine Markham who are leading the wonderful Tiger at Ten team meantime.

Derek Humphrey

Derek’s funeral will be held on Monday 3 April at 13.30 at the church of St Philip and St James, Norton St Philip, Bath. For more information please contact Roy Ransley.

DBS check reminder

Thank you again for those who have stepped up to serve the children at All Saints. We only have one week to go until our Superhero holiday club so please do your safeguarding training and any DBS paperwork urgently. Jennie Herring and Sarah Hagger are happy to support you if needed.

Easter lily collection

The flower team are starting an Easter lily collection in memory of loved ones.
We will decorate the church for Easter with the Lilies and will place a dedication list in the Memorial Chapel. A link has been set up on Churchsuite to make a donation. You will find the donate link in My Giving. Click on the drop-down menu from General Giving to Easter Lilies. Once you have made the donation please could you email the office with the name of your loved one.
Envelopes will also be available in the porch to make a donation in the usual way but we do encourage you if possible to use the online link. The Flower Team

Good Friday concert

On Good Friday 7 April at 7.00pm All Saints are pleased to welcome the New Sussex Singers to perform a beautiful and moving concert of the Rutter and Fauré’s Requiem. We are also inviting experienced choral singers to join the choir for the Fauré, with three rehearsals leading up to the performance. This will be a great opportunity to experience a community event and invite friends from outside the church to enjoy a high-quality performance on the most central festival of the church’s year.

We are delighted to plan for another fellowship lunch on Sunday 7 May, following the 11.15 Sunday Service. It will be a great opportunity to discuss and celebrate the Coronation together as a community and get to know one another better. Like the team, you might want to sport red, white and blue outfits! If you would like to attend please sign up either online: Fellowship Lunch (07-May-2023) · ChurchSuite Events  or on the sign-up sheet at the back of church. The first course will be prepared by Rosemary and Jonathan Harding. MISSION
Mission Partner Focus: Sussex Gospel Partnership

Please pray today especially for those with leadership responsibilities in the churches of the Sussex Gospel Partnership.
  • Pray that church leaders may be both strengthened and encouraged by their Training Day this week on the subject of “Twelve things God can’t do, and how they can help you sleep at night”.
  • “SGP Wives”, is a network for minister’s wives from across Sussex and across denominations. Pray that, as it develops, it will not only be a useful way of sharing information but also a way of praying for and encouraging one another in what can be a difficult, rather lonely, role.
  • Pray that God will raise up new leaders from within our churches. Ask that churches may have the wisdom to recognise God-given gifts in their members and to provide the training and experience to develop these gifts. Pray also that they may have the courage to send out workers

Prayer Meeting for the Lunts

Simon Lunt will join us on Sunday 26 March.  All are welcome.  It's an opportunity to hear news of Simon and Becky's life and work among refugees and others from the Middle East living in north London, and to ask questions. We meet in the WOW room upstairs in the Tiger at 4.30pm.

Praying for the church family

Please continue to hold in your prayers those known to you who may be especially in need of God's comfort at this time and especially for:

Clare Clark
Clare has completed radiotherapy. She will need to wait a few weeks to see what effect it has had on the tumour. She has also had a reaction to the immunotherapy and is having weekly blood tests to monitor the situation. Please pray that she can continue to have the immunotherapy and restart the oral chemotherapy.

Derek Picker
Please pray for Derek following the death of his wife Margaret.

Rosieta Burton
Please continue to pray for Rosieta’s rehabilitation in Birchwood Grove, especially for improved mobility and for some recovery of eyesight.

Gordon Trew
Please continue to pray for Gordon.
