Through a generous ministry partner, God provided the use of a John Deere excavator to begin construction for The Christmas Train. This is the biggest endeavor since the beginning of Doe River Gorge! Building a railroad is definitely a “God-sized” project! Our target date to open is November 2024, so pray with us for God’s leading toward this goal. Summer Camp season #29
Mountain Meadows Lodge suffered considerable damage from a broken sprinkler line in December. Repairs are progressing well and should be complete before camp begins June 4th.
Recruiting summer staff is the most important item. This team of 50-60 is critical to the success of the summer ministry. Below is a letter from a mom who came as a youngster. Amy, the counselor she mentions, is married to our son, Aaron!
Good afternoon. Two of my kids and I just finished a hike through the [gorge] railway, and I absolutely loved it and was reminded of my childhood days at Doe River Gorge. When I was little, we attended Coalition for Kids in Johnson city, and through them came to DRG for summer camp. I remember Amy Richardson being my camp counselor when I was about 8. This camp meant so much to me and was the first place I ever learned about Christianity. I would absolutely love my children to be able to attend and share this experience in common with them.
