Our presbytery family

►For First Presbyterian Church of Milton's Garden Party this Friday, March 24, at 6 p.m. CDT, attendees are asked to bring a side dish or dessert and ideas for naming the new community garden. Hamburgers, hot dogs and drinks, along with information for being more involved in the church, will be provided.

► The Presbytery's Committee on Mission and Outreach (CMO) have approved their first-ever Community Action Grant, an award of $5000 from the Presbytery's Peacemaking Fund, requested by First Presbyterian of Tallahassee and partners engaged in developing a Guns2Gardens initiative. Guns2Gardens is a grassroots ministry that safely and legally dismantles and destroys unwanted firearms. The remaining metal pieces are then forged into life-giving garden tools. First, Tallahassee's partners in the initiative are Faith Presbyterian Church, Lafayette Presbyterian Church, Christ Presbyterian Church, Fellowship Presbyterian Church, Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, and Good Shepherd Catholic Church, all of Tallahassee.

REMINDER to pastors and clerks of session: In accordance with the Presbytery's responsibilities outlined in the Book of Order (G-3.0303), "to coordinate, guide, encourage, support, and resource the work of its congregations ...", the presbytery establishes minimum compensation standards for pastoral calls within the presbytery. For that purpose, the presbytery provides a yearly Annual Compensation Review Pastoral Call Worksheet for Ministers of Word and Sacrament, which you are asked to complete and return to the Presbytery office at the mailing or email address provided in the form. If you haven't already done so, do it now!

Dogwood Acres depends on many sources for the income required to run and maintain its facilities and would not be able to keep the doors open without the deeply-appreciated support of individuals like you. So, how can you help? Check DWA's Wish List for something there that speaks to your heart and abilities. These are sometimes the hardest things for DWA to provide but the easiest for you to give or make happen. And visit www.dogwoodacres.org/serve/ for others ways to support DWA.

► On Palm Sunday, April 2, the combined music ministries of Lafayette Presbyterian Church, Tallahassee, and First United Methodist Church in Monticello will present, “It Is Well With My Soul,” an Easter Cantata written by John Purifoy. This service will feature the combined choirs of both congregations, as well as an instrumental ensemble, for a meaningful and moving worship experience. Services are at 9 a.m. EDT (FUMC Monticello) and 11 a.m. EDT (Lafayette).
