David Aguirre, who is heading up our Tri-Area DNOW this year, reports that 101 have registered to participate in this year's DNOW - 23 adults and 78 youth. Eight churches have registered, with three of them not ever having participated in previous Disciple Now Weekends.

One of the churches that is participating this year for the first time is Iglesia Bautista Maranatha in Clovis. This is the first time one of our Spanish language congregations has joined in the Tri-Area DNOW.

We rejoice in each church that is bringing a group to this year's Disciple Now Weekend. Please pray for God to move among the youth and their sponsors and for Him to use the leaders for this year's DNOW, David Aguirre, speaker, Garrett Wagoner and worship leader, Austin Felts.

Tri-Area DNOW 2023 will be held at the New Mexico Baptist Children's Home in Portales on Friday, March 31st and Saturday, April 1st.

In the past, New Mexico Baptist Disaster Relief's focus has been on helping with disasters when called on by the SBC or the BCNM. The result has often meant needing to deploy for weeks at a time, often times to other states and sometimes, in New Mexico. But what has resulted is that a lot of those who could participate would be older retired folks who could arrange to be gone from home for weeks at a time.

To change this and allow more people to help, they are going to now consider helping with smaller projects submitted by local churches and associations in New Mexico. Projects that might require a crew to work for one or maybe two days. This will allow folks who cannot afford to be away for weeks at a time to also participate.

Imagine the impact that could be made on a community if your church were to arrange to help a local family and dozens of
New Mexico Baptist Disaster Relief volunteers descended on your town. People would certainly take notice! Needless to say, such a shift in emphasis will require more trained volunteers. Which is why Tri-Area is hosting a training this coming Saturday, March 25th, at Central Baptist Church in Clovis from 9 a.m. to noon.

Once you are trained, your name will be added to a list of folks who receive notifications of upcoming projects needing volunteers. If you can help, great. If you cannot, then you just wait for the next notification. In other words, you can help when you can. But you need the training!

So sign up for the training!

Call or text either Dave (575-607-5495) or Elaine (575-714-7788) to let them know if you are coming this Saturday.

This past Sunday, Dave and Donna worshiped with the folks at Immanuel Baptist Church in Tucumcari. Dave preached for Pastor Gordan Runyan, who, along with his wife, Joyce, was away to visit family. They felt warmly received by the congregation.

On Monday, Dave traveled to Ft. Sumner to meet with area pastors for their monthly fellowship at the Rodeo Grill. On Tuesday, he spoke on the subject of revival for the senior adult group, OASIS, at Calvary Baptist in Portales. On Thursday evening at 6 p.m., Dave is scheduled to meet via Zoom with leaders for Young Lives Ablaze to do planning for this event coming up at Parkland on Saturday, April 22nd.

The rest of Dave's week was spent having one-on-one meetings with pastors and ministry leaders. He also spent time preparing for the upcoming Young Lives Ablaze event, working on the weekly newsletter, updating the association website, developing a new workshop to assist our churches in the area of discipleship and leadership development, and arranging to conduct a "Probe" to determine what, if any, new churches are needed in Tri-Area.

The book of the week this week is The Biggest Lie in the History of the Christianity by Matthew Kelly. and is recommended by Steve Kulback, Pastor, FBC, Logan, NM. It is listed in the Good Books section of the Tri-Area website in the category of Theology, under the subcategory of Cultural Engagement.

Do you believe it's possible to be happier than you have ever been before? Not for fleeting moments, but consistently? Bestselling author Matthew Kelly believes it is possible―and in his latest book, The Biggest Lie, he explains how.

We all want to be happy and live life to the fullest, but the answer isn't found in the world's definition of happiness. Modern culture is constantly feeding us lies, and these lies affect you more than you know. The lies that affect you the most, however, are the ones you tell yourself. These lies steal your joy, sap your energy, and cause you to lose hope. They prevent you from discovering the kind of vibrant faith the first Christians experienced.

But as Kelly shows, we've arrived at a crucial moment in history. People are disillusioned with what the world offers. The world is in desperate need of change, and no one is in a better position to effect that change than Christians. We have an incredible opportunity to dispel the lies and cut through the confusion and false promises around us.

This book provides the practical tools necessary to help you regain your fervor and leave your mark on the world―and experience more happiness than you thought possible. Together we can change the course of history―with humility, generosity, kindness, and joy, one Holy Moment at a time.
