Book Launch: Handbook of Feminist Governance
The Handbook, edited by Marian Sawer, Lee Ann Banaszak, Jacqui True and Johanna Kantola, is the first comprehensive survey of the extent to which feminist values and practices have been introduced into governance over the last 50 years. It ranges from the feminist collectivism of 1970s women’s movements through feminist innovation in service delivery and state structures to the feminist norm work undertaken at and around international and regional governance bodies. It shows how innovations such as quotas, gender budgeting and feminist foreign policy have spread around the world but also how they have been contested.
Join us to celebrate the book launch next week. The speakers at the launch will be Virginia Haussegger and Natasha Stott Despoja.

Virginia Haussegger AM is a journalist and gender equity advocate, whose extensive media career spans three decades across public and commercial broadcasting. She is Founding Director of the 50/50 by 2030 Foundation at the University of Canberra, along with BroadAgenda, a news media platform developed to build a bridge from academic research into mainstream media.
NatashaStott Despoja AO is a Professor in the Practice of Politics at ANU and a former Senator, party leader and ambassador. She is a Member of the UN Committee on the Elimination of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW), a Non-Executive Director of several organisations and a Deloitte Principal.
