Five words of comfort and assurance

March 21

“The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want.” - Psalm 23:1

▶︎ LISTEN TO THE DEVOTIONAL

One of the best known and most beloved biblical passages has to be the Twenty-Third Psalm. This passage paints a comforting picture of the love and care of God for His people, His sheep. I love the Living Bible’s paraphrase of our verse: It says, Because the Lord is my Shepherd, I have everything that I need. A shepherd has to provide everything for his sheep, including their food, water, protection, and welfare. In other words, the shepherd is everything to his sheep, and his sheep are totally dependent him. As your Shepherd, the Lord will take care of you physically, emotionally, and spiritually … and He wants to be your Shepherd.

So if you want to experience comfort and care as one of God’s sheep, remind yourself of this truth throughout your day: “Because the Lord is my Shepherd, I have everything that I need!”
