Managing capacity - and expectations

We all know the question. ‘How will you sustain your project’s impact when the funding stops?’

It's a hard one to answer well. But if the best you say is, ‘We’ll try to find money from somewhere else’, read my latest blog here!

Shining a light: stories from practice

This month's case stories are from funders who know there's more to sustainable funding than money - though that sure helps!

Every funder can learn from how The Gannochy Trust understands charity sustainability - and how they support it in practice with their 'Grants Plus' philosophy (full case study to follow in April).

Corra Foundation also has a firm commitment to working alongside charities and communities. We've developed learning together over many years, most recently at an event on how measuring impact supports sustainability.

It's not just for funders! Everyone must now do something about the crisis of capacity and sustainability in the sector and systems they are part of. Join me and an inspiring team of supportive peers to lead the way in the year ahead. LAST CHANCE for bookings!

Commitment to carers

Welcoming Carers Link East Dunbartonshire to the growing network of charities committed to sustainable impact.
When you’re full to capacity, how do you make the space to focus on long-term sustainability?
At Carers Link East Dunbartonshire, it hasn’t been for the want of trying.
The team have attended Lasting Difference programmes, but found it difficult to create the time and space to turn their learning and knowledge into something meaningful.

The breakthrough was in making a public commitment to turn their aims into actions, writing long-term sustainability into their inspiring new strategic plan, incorporating core Lasting Difference principles and practices.
"Making the commitment is the first step in making the space and time to then follow through."  Find out more and make your own commitment here.

Starting with Lasting Leadership in May, the Lasting Difference double bill follows in October.

Commissioning for Outcomes

CCPS's new guide to improving commissioning is hot off the press!
For years, national commissions, legislation and standards have promised person-centred, outcome-focused partnership between the voluntary and public sectors.

Time after time, these have been spurned in favour of process-led, resource-intensive, system-focused commissioning and procurement.

This new guide, produced in partnership with CCPS members and others, explains what outcomes are, why they matter and what outcome-based commissioning means in principle and practice.
