Learn ASL from Deaf Outdoor Experts
Learn the basic signs you need to know in order to communicate with Deaf people while working, recreating or volunteering in the outdoor field.
Our ASL courses meet for an 1 hour long class twice a week and have a maximum of 8 students. Use of google classrooms and some outside of class course work will be expected. Courses are taught by a native Deaf ASL signer who has extensive experience working in the outdoor fields and will be able to adjust teaching styles and topics to fit the needs of the students. Along with basic vocabulary and grammar, students will learn an introduction to Deaf culture and etiquette tailored to outdoor settings.
We offer three levels of ASL classes:
- ASL I for those who have little to no experience with ASL
- ASL II for those who have some experience with ASL and are looking to expand upon their conversational skills
- ASL III for those looking to understand the Access to Outdoors movement in the Deaf and Disabled Community and to explore Deaf Culture
