HIGHLIGHTS

This week, Fulbright Commission in Portugal celebrated 63 years - 63 years of public diplomacy, life changing experiences and cooperation through education. We are grateful and very happy for being able to foster mutual understanding between Portugal and the United Sates. Thank you for helping us to continue with this legacy!

The Fulbright Portugal Forum is an annual event which goals are to share ideas, foster debate and facilitate contact between Fulbrighters. Focusing on a central topic, current grantees will gather to offer their views and their experience as a result of the projects developed under the aegis of the Fulbright Program. This year, the framing topic will be “Fulbrighters contributions for a Sustainable Future” – How is our Fulbright Community, from both sides of the Atlantic, giving back to our Planet?

WEEK IN REVIEW

The Fulbright Commission and EducationUSA Portugal are at the Education Fair, Futurália, until tomorrow, Saturday, March 25. If you happen to be in Lisbon, come and pay us a visit! It is an excellent opportunity to talk with some of the U.S. Higher Education Institutions that are joining us this year, and know more about studying or researching in the United States, as well as about the Fulbright grants and opportunities.

We thank Dr. Pedro Nuno Teixeira, Secretary of State for Higher Education, and Dr. Eduardo Marçal Grilo, former Minister of Education - both Fulbrighters - for their visit and tête-à-tête about past, present and the future of educational exchange between Portugal and the United States.

As we celebrated Fulbright Portugal’s 63rd anniversary, on March 19, the Commission, American and Portuguese grantees and alumni got together for a small gathering around the table. It was great to catch up on the conversation and watch the sun going down in the city of Lisbon. Thank you to all!

Foi homenageada no Dia Mundial da Poesia, 21 de março. O tributo à Fulbrighter, Poeta e Professora, infelizmente já desaparecida, foi levado a cabo por vários nomes das Letras portuguesas, entre os quais, Margarida Vale de Gato, também Fulbrighter, na Casa Fernando Pessoa, em Lisboa: "mesmo sem palavras: o furor".
