A Reflection and a Look Ahead

At the start of 2022, the Metro Chamber Foundation committed to providing opportunities for leaders in our region to connect. As we reflect upon the accomplishments and people we engaged with last year, key highlights included:

  • Launch of Leadership Sacramento Alumni Association

  • Hosting the annual Emerge Summit in-person for the first time since 2019

  • Development and implementation of the Metro Strive Women's Leadership Program

  • Instituting BoardLink by Metro EDGE

  • Welcoming new members to the Metro Chamber Foundation staff

As we look ahead to the rest of 2023, we are excited about bringing the seven Foundation programs to new heights and continue to impact the community in unique ways. Being guardians of legacy and champions of change, the Foundation is poised to honor and carry on the wonderful work of those who have contributed to its success while embracing mission-aligned opportunities of the future.

On behalf of the Metro Chamber Foundation team, we thank you for supporting our mission to create equitable paths to leadership, community development, and employment for people in business.

Metro EDGE

We are proud to announce the placement of six aspiring young professionals on regionally recognized business boards as part of BoardLink, a new development opportunity for members of the thriving young professionals program. Launched in October 2022 and powered by Metro EDGE, BoardLink is focused on placing under-40 professionals on boards that support local economic development, transportation, workforce development, and more. The exciting new program provides young professionals with invaluable experience while also gives businesses coveted access to an emerging population of young leaders.

Leadership Sacramento 2023

The 2023 Leadership Sacramento Cohort kicked off their year in early March with our infamous retreat! Led by Chair Mike Isle (2008) and Vice Chair Samantha Hoshida (2017) 44 of Sacramento's brightest leaders will begin their journey getting to know the region while leaving a lasting legacy.

#LS22

Leadership Sacramento 2022 (LS22) class announced in early February the completion of its community betterment project, the renovation of the Stanford Settlement Neighborhood Center Senior Center’s outdoor space.

To commemorate completion of the class project, the LS22 class hosted a ribbon-cutting event on February 24. The vision of the renovation, a class project chosen by LS22 in spring of 2022, was to create an outdoor space accessible for all senior visitors and their families. The outdoor areas offer social spaces for conversation, and are also designed for exercise and fitness, gardening, quiet moments, and mediation. See the results of the class project here!

The MetroBusiness Center (MBC)  is gearing up to celebrate Small Business Week, taking place April 30th - May 6th. The MBC will be hosting a Finance Day webinar in partnership with First Citizens Bank on May 2nd @ 1 pm, and will also be focused on highlighting small businesses all week long. Leaders in the Region

Through the California Commission on the Status of Women and Girls Women's Recovery Grant, the Metro Chamber Foundation launched a leadership program focused on women in the workplace called Metro Strive. The inaugural cohort had the opportunity to grow upon their leadership skills and connect with a network of women from different backgrounds, industries, and stages of life. Interested in getting involved? Email the Foundation team.

Lemonade Day

We are excited to partner with community leaders and afterschool programs to launch Lemonade Day, and watch new and returning young entrepreneurs achieve their dreams. Join us through the month of April to learn what it takes to be an entrepreneur, and celebrate business stands on May 20, 2023! Email Jazmine Alop if you want to get involved as a participant, sponsor, or mentor.
