Conistone Hostel Update

Since our last update in November, we've continued working on the Hostel; undertaking repairs inside and outside, and giving the building a freshened look. Working through a list of maintenance jobs, and starting to act on some of our longer term aspirations, we aim to ensure that Conistone Hotel remains an affordable and family-friendly place to stay in the Yorkshire Dales.

We are thrilled to share with you that our Golden Hornet crab apple tree, planted as part of the Platinum Jubilee planting initiative, looks to have rooted itself as we can see the shoots coming through, alongside the white cyclamen. This tree can now be found on the Queen's Green Canopy map.

Work Weekend

The team are holding a work weekend on the 15th and 16th of April. If you are able and willing to spare a few hours to help us with any maintenance tasks according to your ability, please contact us and Lesley Whitaker will let you know what we have planned.

Conistone Open Day

If you have never been to Conistone Hostel and would like to see for yourself what the hostel has to offer, please come and join us on Saturday the 13th of May between 10am and 3pm for a cuppa and to look round the building. Members of the Committee will be on hand to answer any questions that you may have.

If you are interested in booking the Hostel but have some questions, you can send them through to Wendy McNally on the Conistone Hostel Enquiry Form. If you already have a date in mind, the following link takes you directly to the Hostel's booking Diary 2023 Conistone Calendar & Booking Form.

Leeds Craftivists make blanket statement

Leeds Sanctuary are delighted to share that Leeds Craftivists completed their first quarterly campaign for 2022/ 23, on the topic of the Cost of Living Crisis.

True to form, the Craftivists aimed to create something hopeful and impactful, which in this case was a blanket. The group received 150 unique blanket squares from people attending the monthly gatherings or an alternative workshop across West Yorkshire, or from people further afield who track the group’s campaigns and resources online. The squares have subsequently been sewn together to form one blanket, delivering clear messages to our country’s leaders, in the hope that this positive action will encourage change. Thank you so much if you sent a blanket square to us!

The blanket is now “on tour”; having visited Ormskirk and Left Bank Leeds, it’s now spending some time in Penistone. If you’d like to display the blanket in your church or project, please contact Anna Bland.
