Tuesday - Friday, 10am - 5pm and 
Saturday - Sunday, 10am - 3pm


Free art activities for everyone!

Superpowered on Tour is brought to Artspace Mackay by Queensland Art Gallery | Gallery of Modern Art (QAGOMA) Children’s Art Centre.

Take part in interactive projects by four Australian artists – Kaylene Whiskey (Yankunytjatjara people), Tony Albert (Girramay/Yidinyji/Kuku Yalanji peoples), Gordon Hookey (Waanyi people) and Vincent Namatjira (Western Aranda people).

The free and fun activities will focus on strong empowering messages and humour.

First art session: 10am - 11.30am
Music session: 11.30am - 12.15pm
Second art session: 12.15pm - 2pm


BMA Kidspace, our ever-popular FREE toddlers’ program, gives children under five a chance to explore and have fun with art in a climate of co-operative learning. 

Bring your toddlers along for a fun day of artmaking, singing and dancing, drop-in anytime from 10am to 2pm and stay as long as you would like.

Conversations with Art


Friday, April 21, 1pm - 2.30pm 

Held on the third Friday of each month, Conversations with Art is a free and enjoyable discussion led by Artspace staff as we look at works on show and images from gallery and museum collections.

Whether you’re an artist, an art and language lover, beginner, or expert, we’d love you to join us. It’s an inclusive, thought provoking and satisfying way to spend an afternoon!

Kids Art Club Term 2


Saturday, May 6 to June 10, 10am - noon
$180 per child (8 to 12 yrs) for six weeks (includes all materials)


If you’re 8 to 12 years old and love making art, Kids Art Club, Artspace Mackay’s ongoing term-based Saturday art program is just for you! In Term 2, local artist Rosemary Payne will deliver this rich six-week program of creative art for kids.

It’s a free opportunity for you—with the help of volunteers—to explore the featured ‘artist’s book of the month’ up-close and page-by-page.
