Dr. Emily Iker is a renowned physician, researcher, and patient advocate who has dedicated her career to diagnosing, treating, and managing lymphatic diseases (LDs). Dr. Iker serves as the Director of the Lymphedema Center Santa Monica, a LE&RN Referral Network of Excellence. She is also a celebrated speaker and author whose books have educated thousands about nutrition and the latest advancements in LD care.
Dr. Iker is not only a leader in the scientific understanding of lymphedema, but she also understands the condition on a personal level. She developed secondary lymphedema (LE) during her surgical residency, ultimately leading her to pursue a career in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at New York Medical College. Dr. Iker received her certification in Manual Lymphatic Drainage from Professor Albert Leduc, a world-renowned lymphologist. Dr. Iker currently serves as the Vice Chair of the California Chapter for LE&RN and has organized annual LymphWalks to fundraise and unite the lymphatic community. Dr. Emily Iker's work has helped improve the quality of life for countless people living with LDs.
The Leadership in Patient Advocacy Award recognizes a clinician dedicated to advancing the mission of LE&RN. Dr. Iker will be honored during the Global Virtual Run/Walk to Fight Lymphatic Diseases live broadcast on April 22.
