DUT FACULTY OF MANAGEMENT SCIENCES TO HOST IT FIRST ANNUAL STATE OF THE FACULTY ADDRESS (SOFA)

The Faculty of Management Sciences at the Durban University of Technology (DUT) will host its first annual State of the Faculty Address 2023 (SOFA). The SOFA will be held at Mansfield Hall, Ritson Campus on Tuesday, 04 April 2023 at 18h00.

The Executive Dean of the Faculty of Management Sciences, Professor Fulufhelo Netswera will provide a full analysis of the Faculty’s condition relative to the university at large, deliver a proposal highlighting the priorities of the Faculty, with motives and the expression of a philosophical framework of the ENVISION2030 Faculty Plan.

MAFU HAS BEEN SELECTED TO ATTEND THE ASIA WORLD MODEL UNITED NATIONS (AWMUN) CONFERENCE IN THAILAND

Durban University of Technology (DUT) alumna, Ntobeko Mafu, has been selected as a delegate to attend the prestigious Asia World Model United Nations (AWMUN) Offline Conference in Krung Thep Maha Nakhon, Thailand, from 27 to 30 May 2023.

The dynamic go-getter is a 22-year-old farmer, and author of her book called, Letters to whoever needs to hear this: notes from me. She is also a motivational speaker and founder from Edendale in Pietermaritzburg, who owns a business called Madam Clucks A lot Poultry.

Madam Clucks A lot Poultry rears broiler chickens and supplies them to the people who live in local communities and surrounding areas.

INTERNATIONAL EXCHANGE STUDENT, TOBIAS METZ SHARES HIS EXPERIENCE ON BEING PART OF THE DUT BUSINESS SCHOOL-MBA PROGRAMME

International exchange student, Tobias Metz is excited to be part of the Master in Business Administration (MBA) programme under the Durban University of Technology (DUT) Business School.  

Metz (24) is a Master student from the Center for Advanced Studies of the Baden-Württemberg Cooperative State University, Germany. He joined the DUT MBA programme for a two-month period from 01 February 2023 and his last class is scheduled for 31 March 2023.

SPORT ADMINISTRATION UNIT LAUNCHES A DUT RACE WALK CLUB FOR STAFF MEMBERS

The Sport Administration Unit at the Durban University of Technology (DUT) launched a Race Walk Club on Monday, 13 March 2023 at the Lagoon Beach. The race walk is aimed at encouraging the healthy living lifestyle of the university staff members through exercising.

Staff members from different departments and units gladly participated, including Dr Vuyo Mthethwa: Deputy Vice-Chancellor: People and Operations who expressed her gratitude to the organisers of this newly launched race walk.

MNGOMEZULU BELIEVES HIS COURAGEOUS LEADERSHIP TO FULFIL HIS VISION FOR THE SRC COMES WITH PASSION NOT WITH HIS POSITION

The Durban University of Technology (DUT) Student Representative Council (SRC) Treasurer, Mr Asanda Mngomezulu believes that his courageous leadership to fulfil his vision for the SRC comes with passion not his position.

He is currently doing his Advanced Diploma in Information and Communication Technology: Application Development (ICT: App Dev).

Mngomezulu (22) believes that his passion for helping people pushed him to join DUT politics. “I have been working tirelessly, serving students while I was still an underground force that is why I believe that my courageous leadership to fulfil my vision in the SRC comes with passion not position,” said Mngomezulu.

Durban University of Technology (DUT) recently approved the ENVISION2030 Living Values Framework. The five values are identified as transparency, honesty, integrity, respect and accountability. The principles espoused are fairness, professionalism, commitment, compassion and excellence. DUT’s Communications team, Lethukuthula Ngubane spoke to Lungisani Hlongwane, Administrative Assistant & Residence Advisor: Student Housing and Residence Life at DUT.

Q: Kindly tell me about your role at DUT?

“My role at DUT is serving students under the Student Housing & Residence Life Unit. I work as an Admin Assistant and as a Residence Advisor. During the day I am an Admin Assistant primarily focusing on Residence & Private Accommodation allocations and responding to students queries through Housing WhatsApp and emails.
