Welcome to our Information & Computer Sciences (ICS) Newsletter.

This newsletter will serve as a place to inform undergraduate students, faculty and staff about upcoming events and opportunities within the ICS Department and the greater community. The newsletter will also highlight research projects as well as outstanding students and faculty in our department.

Virtual (3/24) and In-person (3/31) Tech & Intelligence Career Fair

The Virtual UH Tech and Intelligence Career Fair (3/24) and the in-person Tech and Intelligence Career Fair (3/31) are part of the Hawaii Tech Days of Spring (3/21-4/1). For more information and upcoming tech events, please see attached flyer or click here.

The Hawaii Tech Days of Spring is a great opportunity for ICS students to network with professionals and employers as well as learn more about the local tech industry.

2023 Blossom Visual Novel Jam

Interested in creating games, gaining experience with industry-standard programs, and meeting new people? Come join the UH Game Dev Club! We will be having our first general meeting for the Blossom Visual Novel Jam on March 30th (Thurs.) from 7-8pm on our discord. No experience is required to join!

Our focus this jam will be centered around learning how to use the game engine Unity (C#) and so we will be having optional in-person tutorial workdays in addition to our online general meetings. This jam will be a perfect fit for those interested in art and story writing too!

Hawaii Data Science Workshops

Research & Internship Opportunities

DataHouse is now accepting applications for their 2023 Summer Internship Program! This program is designed for students who are interested in pursuing a technology career!

Program Duration: June 5, 2023-July 28, 2023. Scheduled Weekly Hours: 40 hours per week. The proposed salary range is up to $22+ per hour.

Deadline to apply is April 30, 2023.

Headquartered in Honolulu, Hawaii with remote locations across the United States, RevaComm (RVCM) is a leader in Agile Software Development, User-Centered Design, and DevSecOps.

This program is designed to allow for both professional and personal development. Interns will have a hands-on, collaborative experience of tackling hard problems from the start.This summer internship is expected to last from May 30th to August 4th (10 weeks). Scheduled weekly hours will vary depending on the role.

NHSEMP Sophomore Success at UH Manoa

The NHSEMP Sophomore Success is a 10-week program for students interested in science, technology, engineering, or math (STEM). This program addresses areas of interest for mid-level undergraduate students each summer term. Students will enroll in degree-required STEM courses for credit, participate in faculty-driven research projects, and attend weekly advising and development workshops. In addition, students will perform research in university laboratories under the guidance of UH faculty members, researchers, and graduate students.
