Dear Community of Saints Families,

The safety of our students and staff is our top priority. You may hear from your student(s) that today our school had a Building Intruder Drill (formerly referred to as an Internal Lockdown).  

We met with the West Saint Paul Police Department earlier this week to have them review our current procedures and to assess our building structure.  We then made some adjustments in our procedures, and met as a staff yesterday to discuss.  Our updated procedures were implemented in today’s drill.  We will continue to consult, discuss, refine and improve our procedures regularly. 

Should we ever have an emergency situation that resulted in students and staff unable to safely reenter the building/school premises, we would communicate via text the designated gathering spot to reunite with student(s)/family members.
 

We ask for your partnership in ensuring our school grounds are operated at their safest by the following:

-Follow school safety procedures communicated by the school
 

-Never let someone into the building through the different door entrances of the school–all guests need to buzz in through Door 1 and sign in and out at the office.  

 

-Reiterate to your students (we are in homerooms as well), to never let someone into the school building.  If they see someone knocking, get a staff member to help, do not open the door.
