Liz Cheney, former U.S. representative, with Jon Meacham, American writer, historian and presidential biographer

Face to Face typically features a special opportunity for a student-led Q&A with the speakers prior to the evening event. Details about the student portions of the 2023-24 Face to Face Speaker Forum will be available closer to this fall.
First-year students and graduating seniors, please take the NSSE survey
The National Survey of Student Engagement (NSSE) went live on April 10 for first-year students and graduating seniors. Please check your WFU email and take the survey. NSSE annually collects information at hundreds of four-year colleges and universities about student participation in activities and programs that promote their learning and personal development. The results provide an estimate of how undergraduates spend their time and what they gain from attending their college or university. Your responses are crucial to our understanding of Wake Forest student engagement and how we compare to peer schools.
We need your input on the “Just Try It” initiative in the Pit and North Dining Hall
Last month, Harvest Table Culinary Group launched its new “Just Try It” initiative in The Table at Reynolda (The Pit) and at North Dining Hall to reduce food waste at our dining halls. This initiative encourages guests to try a smaller portion of food of your choice before committing to an entire meal portion. Feel free to ask an associate behind the counter to just try something during your next visit to The Pit or North Dining Hall! Please fill out our survey to let us know your thoughts on this new initiative!
Wake Forest is first school in history to win all three major debate championships in one season
History has been made! Wake Debate wins the Triple Crown with a close out of the 2023 Cross Examination Debate Association National Championship. This is the first time in history that a debate program has won all three national championships in the same season. Congratulations to Wake Debate!
‘Swatting’ continues to plague college campuses
Reports of “swatting” — a term that refers to calls that falsely report an act of violence in progress or about to occur in order to evoke an aggressive response from a law-enforcement agency — are on the rise nationwide. Higher education continues to be a target. This post on Inside WFU provides additional information about swatting, how WFU will communicate in an emergency and support resources available after the fraudulent “shots fired” report of April 9.
Spring Concert featuring Pink Sweat$, April 15
Spring Concert artist announced: Pink Sweat$! Don’t miss this FREE event. Food trucks & games start at 4:30 p.m. on Davis Field. Student performances start at 6:30 p.m. The artist’s performance begins at 8 p.m. (Rain Location: Wait Chapel.)

Students are invited to join President Susan R. Wente and Vice President for Campus Life Shea Kidd Brown for an upcoming Gold & Black Chat on Monday, April 17, at 4:15 p.m. in the Wellbeing Center (Living Room). This Gold and Black Chat is a “pop up” event.
Iron Chef Ming Tsai coming to campus April 17
Chef Ming Tsai will be on campus on April 17 from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. in the Pit. We will be featuring his product, Mings Bings, on our International Grill Station in the Pit. Chef Ming Tsai is an Iron Chef, James Beard and Emmy Award-Winner, Chef/Partner at BaBa at Yellowstone Club in Big Sky, and a Chairman of the National Advisory Board for Family Reach. He is the author of five cookbooks and host and executive producer of PBS-TV’s Simply Ming. Most recently, Chef Ming founded MingsBings, a consumer-packaged goods startup for healthy, plant-based, convenient food. Wake Forest currently serves Mings Bings on the vegan station in The Pit and has them in our freezers for sale in the campus convenience stores.
We Are Wake pop-up and interest event, April 18
The goal of We Are Wake is to engage every member of the campus community in cultivating a caring and healthy community. Join us for a We Are Wake pop-up and interest event on Tuesday, April 18, from 3-5 p.m. in the Wellbeing Center Living Room to learn more about how you can engage in this important initiative.
Volunteer opportunity April 19: Respectacle at the School of Medicine
Undergraduates who are looking for volunteer hours and want to give back to the community can support Respectacle, a student-run volunteer organization at the Wake Forest School of Medicine. Students collect and refurbish prescription glasses, which are donated to people in need across the country. The School of Medicine chapter has helped more than 2,550 people see since last August. Respectacle is hosting its next student volunteer event (register here) at the School of Medicine downtown on April 19 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. in the Small Flat Room (BGCME 5203/5205). The medical school building is attached to the Wake Downtown building, and a shuttle serves that location. Volunteers will help sort and process donated glasses. Undergraduate students are encouraged to get involved to help make healthcare accessible for those who need it most.

We are excited to announce the return of one of Wake’s most beloved traditions: Shag on the Mag. Join us on Wednesday, April 26, at 7 p.m. on the Mag Quad for live music and a DJ, food, photo booths and more!
