Starting on April 23, the Pastor's Book Club will return with an 8-week study of Jesus and John Wayne by Kristin Kobes Du Mez. Russ will lead the group each Sunday from 4:15-5:15 pm, and you're welcome to participate in-person in the church library or virtually on Zoom.

In her bestselling book, Du Mez (Professor of History at Calvin University) provides an insightful overview of the last seventy-five years of white evangelicalism, revealing how many American evangelical leaders have worked to replace the Jesus of the Gospels with an idol of rugged masculinity and Christian nationalism. The book helps make sense of many of the controversies, political alliances, and cultural faultlines that are shaping the world around us today.

To join the study, email Russ at russ@ridgleachristian.org or sign up in the foyer at church on Sunday. You can order copy of the book through the church for $10, purchase your own (physical or E-book), or borrow a library copy.

On Sunday, April 23 our church will host staff from the North Texas chapter of Unbound Now for a "lunch & learn" event about human trafficking in Tarrant County. Unbound Now runs a 24-hour drop-in center integrated into the One Safe Place complex to provide a space where young trafficking victims can rest, shower, eat, connect to resources, and spend time with an adorable therapy dog. The presentation will cover what their organization does (advocacy, training, and prevention/awareness) and how you can help.

The event will take place in the fellowship hall with a light lunch provided and childcare will be available in the nursery.

Though there will not be any graphic subject matter, the presenters recommended 16 and up as the intended audience for their presentation.

On Sunday afternoon, April 23 all are invited to wish Ellen Feagan a happy 98th birthday! Ellen will be hosting people at her home (9216 Diane Drive) for a drop-in birthday celebration from 1:00 - 4:00 pm, so please plan to stop by, enjoy a piece of cake, and wish Ellen a happy birthday.

Easter Sunday Recap

It was great to see so many of you at Easter Sunday worship as we celebrated Christ's resurrection! Special thanks to everyone who showed up early to make the beautiful flowered cross, our youth who hid Easter eggs, our adults who led a special Sunday school lesson for our kids, and Janet Lanza who has been working for weeks to make sure all the flowers and landscaping around the building were extra gorgeous!

Community garden workdays

Every Wednesday morning starting at 9:00 am all are invited to gather and work in our Jubilee Garden located in front of the church. Even if you don't have a garden plot, you can help tend to the "free food plots" we make available to our neighbors.

If you're interested in a plot in the Jubilee Garden, each
4' X 8' plot is $30 for the calendar year and comes with good dirt, water, use of the tools in the shed, lots of sharing of seeds, plants and ideas and wonderful fellowship. If you have questions or would like to reserve a plot, contact Janet Lanza at lanza.janet@gmail.com.

Its game night at kids and youth group! Russ is leading so we know it'll be a fun time! We hope you'll join Russ, Carla and Brenda from 4:00-5:30 on Sunday!  Children's group is open to those in 3rd-6th grade and  youth group is open to those in 7th-12th grade.

Interested in making (or learning to make)
prayer shawls?

Over the years, our church's Prayer Shawl Ministry has knitted, blessed, and presented shawls to many individuals and families experiencing a difficult time or significant life event. Whether it's the loss of a loved one, the birth of a child, or treatment for cancer, a prayer shawl provides a warm embrace that reminds the recipient of God's love and the prayers and support of our church community.

You're welcome to join in if you are interested in knitting or crocheting prayer shawls! Whether you want to learn how to knit for the first time or you've been at it for years, your presence is welcome. The group meets on the second and fourth Tuesday of each month at 1:00 pm in the church library. If you're interested or would like more information, email Brenda at bwentworth666@gmail.com or let any of the church staff know.
