Spring is springing (...soon??) which means more storms will be storming and more rainbows will be rainbowing.

Speaking of rainbows... check out this list of LGBTQIAA+ titles and creators. You are seen. You are welcome. You are loved.

Teen Makerspace

Celebrate the power of words with this month's project... It's art! It's poetry! It's Blackout Poetry!

Also celebrate National Frog Month with April's teen raffle. Participate in the scavenger hunt every week towards your chance at a prize! One entry per teen, per week.

Request your April box today!

This month's teen subscription box is Spring Things. Fill out the form and we will send you home with library books to read, snacks, and supplies for a spring related activity.

Heroes vs Villains Party

Thursday, April 20
4:30-6pm
Grades 6- 12
Register in advance and vote for your favorite heroes and villains.

Button Mondays

Grades 6-12 are invited to drop by the library anytime on Mondays, April 10 & 24 from 3-7pm to use our button maker. Calligraphy pens, fine-tipped markers, and templates will be available.

Learn about volunteer opportunities at the library, assist staff with upcoming teen program prep, enjoy snacks, and more! We will also discuss upcoming summer programs and events for teens - bring your ideas and opinions about summer reading challenges, cosplay, and more.

Society for the Appreciation of Manga & Anime (SAMA)

Unwind Time
Monday, May 15
4:30-6pm

By request, next month's SAMA meet-up will include drawing and air dry clay creations while we watch anime and eat snacks. Only quiet conversations will be allowed in order to maintain a calming and inspiring environment.

Advanced registration is encouraged. All who register in advance are guaranteed a sketchbook or journal.

Battle of the Ships Results

The votes have been tallied...

Hermione & Ron have been deemed the Battle of the Ships winner!

Are there any surprises? What are the pros and cons of bracket and ranked voting? Did your favorite become the champion?

Full results are available for a limited time in the YA Area and will be posted to social media on Saturday.

Webtoon Reviewers Wanted

We are seeking regular Webtoon readers to contribute brief reviews to our monthly YA newsletter. They do not have to be more than 1-2 short paragraphs. Reviewers can choose to contribute monthly or every other month.

Free Class for Teens from Yale University

Yale University is offering a free class for teens about happiness.

"This isn’t [Laurie] Santos’s first foray into democratizing happiness. She hosts a podcast called “The Happiness Lab,” ...The timing of the teen-specific course, which already has at least 17,000 enrollees, is notable. More than a third of teens self-report experiencing poor mental health, and nearly half feel persistent sadness or hopelessness during the pandemic...." - CNBC, 2023
