an ecumenical gathering
Wednesdays, 6 - 7:30 p.m.

Our weekly ecumenical gatherings to discuss John Philip Newell's book Sacred Earth, Sacred Soul will continue for the two Wednesdays after Easter - April 12 and April 19.  On April 12, we'll meet at Trinity Church Castine at 6:00 p.m. to discuss Chapters 6 and 7.  On April 19, we'll meet at TCP at 6:00 p.m. to discuss Chapters 8 and 9. All are welcome!
Weekly Meditation

Let him Easter in us, be a dayspring to the dimness of us.
-Gerard Manley Hopkins

If you were at our Easter services on Easter Sunday, maybe you noticed: that verse, from Gerard Manley Hopkins’ epic poem “The Wreck of the Deutschland,” made more than one appearance.  It speaks a truth that’s resonating in my heart this year: Easter is a day, and Easter is a season, and Easter is a verb

Easter is something that happens to us.  The lectionary texts in Eastertide tell that story in a variety of ways, as we follow the disciples in the early days of post-resurrection life.  And so, in the weeks to come I’ll be exploring that “something” in a four-part sermon series: “Easter In Us.” (And yes - there are five Sundays between now and the turn towards Pentecost, but I’ll be away on April 30 for a continuing education/study week, and am grateful to Rev. Bobby Vagt for stepping into the pulpit that week!)

And before you hear what I have to say about the things that might be eastering in all of us, I invite you to spend some time in your own reflection on this powerful verse.  If Easter is, indeed, a verb, what work is Easter doing in you?   Where do you feel new life emerging in you?  Or, where do you need to feel new life emerging?   What does Easter look like and feel like in your life?

I look forward to digging deep into that question, together, in the weeks to come.  In the meantime, friends, blessings on the first days of this season of Easter.

Christ is risen!  He is risen, indeed!

Grace and peace,

Pastor Andi

We're Springing It on You!

Garden Clean-up Day ~ April 22, 2023 ~ 9-11 a.m.

Spring is in the air. Can you hear it? Our Church garden is calling to be spruced-up. We are looking for some volunteers to spring up on Saturday, April 22nd, to make our garden spring back to life after its long winter nap. Lots of hands will make quick work of it. In fact, it won't seem like work at all with lots of folks to talk and laugh with. No horticultural skills needed. If you have any questions, give Ruth Basile a call at 326-9210.
~ No Neighbor Left Behind ~

Our next opportunity to provide a nutritious meal for over 120 of our neighbors will be on Friday,  April 28th.

The menu this month will be:
Ham
Mac & Cheese
Green beans
Fruit
Cornbread

If you would like to contribute meal components or volunteer for assembly and delivery, contact our meal coordinator, Ruth Anne Vagt at 326-9244.

Thanks for your help!
Save the Date - June 3, 2023

Pastor Andi's Service of Installation will be held on Saturday, June 3, at 11 a.m. here at TCP.

A Service of Installation celebrates the covenant between a local church and a newly (well, newly-ish) called pastor and teacher, while also reaffirming the covenantal relationship of all the local churches in an association.  It's a beautiful service, and an important part of our shared ministry — so we hope that many of you will be able to attend!
Seeking Donations
of Non-Perishable Food Items

Food insecurity is a daily reality for many of our neighbors.  One way to help is through donations of non-perishable food items.  You can bring items to church on Sunday - or anytime the office is open - and leave donations in the baskets in the entryway.  We'll deliver it to a local food pantry.

Thank you for your help!
INTERESTED IN SUPPORTING SUNDAY WORSHIP?

If you’re interested in providing flowers, or serving as an usher, or bringing coffee hour refreshments, or spending time in the Children’s Corner with the littlest members of our community, please visit the Sign-Up Genius:

or sign up on the clip-boards downstairs in the Vestry.
Participation is so rewarding, so please sign up for any task that you'd like to take on!
Weekly Bible Study

All are welcome to join an ecumenical Bible study, co-hosted by TCP and Trinity Episcopal Church, every Tuesday at 9 a.m.  Each week, we read and discuss the texts for the upcoming Sunday - as appointed by the Revised Common Lectionary.  The coming week's texts can be found above.  (Wondering what the Revised Common Lectionary is?  Read more here!)

This Bible study happens over Zoom, so folks can (and do!) join from far and near.  Here’s the Zoom information, which will remain unchanged week to week.
