Re: Follow Up on Campus Emergency Response

This morning, Thursday, April 6, at 4:28 a.m., Caltech Security issued a shelter-in-place notice in response to an unconfirmed report of an armed person on campus. Pasadena Police and Caltech Security responded, searched the campus, and determined the report was not credible. The campus was cleared at 5:13 a.m. for a return to normal activities. In an abundance of caution, Caltech Security has increased its presence on campus and all buildings are locked and are only accessible via keycard or key access today.

I want to thank all members of the community for their cooperation in adhering to the safety instructions shared via the Everbridge notification system. Emergency response incidents serve as a reminder of the importance of Everbridge, which is the notification system that the Institute will use to inform members of our community of a potential emergency situation and, importantly, to advise on any actions that should be taken in response. Please take the time today to check your notification settings and, if you have not already done so, to download the Everbridge App so that you can receive notification as quickly as possible. You can download the app for Apple or Google devices now. Instructions on how to log into the app are available on the Emergency Communication and Everbridge App Instructions page.

To verify or update your contact information in the Everbridge application, please

  1. Go to http://access.caltech.edu

Thank you.
