CASFAA Chronicle - April 2023
President’s Update
Hello CASFAA Members! Acceptance notifications sent, aid offers made; Spring is officially here, and FAFSA Simplification is soon to follow. Your CASFAA Executive Council is hard at work designing programs and training to meet the needs of this challenging time. I am really excited to share with you these CASFAA opportunities to add to your calendar.
First, CASFAA is going back to the state Capitol for its first Day at the Capitol event since the COVID pandemic, on April 21, 2023. If you want to take part in this advocacy event or share your input on pending state legislation, please reach out to us.
Second, based on the volume and complexity of the changes we are confronted with between 23/24 and 24/25 changes, CASFAA Leadership is announcing its first Summer Consortium in early August. Part retreat, part training, and 100% away from the office, CASFAA Summer Consortium is a chance to engage with your fellow financial aid leaders for a collaborative, highly relevant and practical learning experience. If you are interested in participating as a trainer or attendee, we want to hear from you. Now is your chance to have you voice heard on the training topics and overall agenda.
And, lastly, I am thrilled to announce the theme and dates for our 2023 annual conference and 50th anniversary celebration, CASFAA Goes Electric: The Times They Are a’Changin’. Please save the dates October 11-14, 2023, and plan to join us at the Westin in Long Beach, with your favorite concert t-shirt and boogie shoes in tow. Registration will open early this summer. Volunteers of all talents and abilities are needed to make these programs a success, so considering volunteering and joining the action. I hope you enjoy the April CASFAA Chronicle. I want to extend a special thanks to everyone who contributed to its creation.
I hope to see you at one of our events soon!
