Hey, Gators! It’s Monday, again.

Some exciting news… Golden Gate Xpress staff reporter Adriana Hernandez and multimedia editor Andrea Sto. Domingo were recently featured on NBC Bay Area for their outstanding coverage of a contentious event that took place on the San Francisco State University campus last week about transgender athletes, which later became a part of a national discussion.

It's great to see student journalists receiving recognition for their hard work. Shout out to the team that worked tirelessly in having complete coverage.

Also, the print edition of Xpress Magazine’s second issue hit the stands last week! Check out our take on the boomerang challenge when we distributed the magazine and see where you can grab your copy today!

Now that you’re caught up, let’s get into it, shall we?

THIS WEEK’S HOT SHOT

This week’s hot shot was a hard one to choose because there were so many good takes from last week’s breaking news. It hasn’t been published just yet but this photo by GGX visuals editor Miguel Carrion really stood out to me.

Protesters congregate along the stairwell outside of the room where Riley Gaines was speaking during the event at SF State on Thursday, April 6, 2023.

It’s not your “traditional” breaking news photo, but I love how Miguel played with the flash in this one — it really tells a story. His whole set of photos plays with flash and shadows. I can’t wait for y’all to see it.

BEFORE YOU GO,

WHAT’S GOING ON THIS WEEK?

And that’s all for today, folks.
