The Summer Blues Concert Series at the Akron Civic’s “Knight Stage” will be kicking off on Thursday, May 18th with a great young talent, Gabe Stillman.

Gabe has two CD’s released, one backed by the Nighthawks, and the other produced by Anson Funderburgh, who also played on the album!

The Civic Theatre has made a commitment to establish our area as a Blues Mecca, halfway between Memphis and Chicago, so let’s get out and “Keep the Blues Alive!”

In addition to Gabe, the theatre has signed King Solomon Hicks, another up and coming Star. Following Hicks they have veteran Blues acts not to be missed, namely,

James Armstrong , from St Louis, ( his first band was “James and Coco” yes Coco Montoya!) The Armstrong Band tours worldwide and is finally leaving Europe for Akron, Ohio.

Lil Ed and the Blues Imperials are on the list too. Annika Chambers, the 2022 Blues “Woman of the year” with her BMA awards in tow, will be appearing with her husband, Paul DesLauries and his monster guitar work.

Rounding out the Concert Series is everyone’s favorite, Johnny Rawls, with his Blues Grammys in tow !

All shows are Thursday nights with a 7:00 PM curtain at the Knight Stage, just go to the Akron Civic Theatre’s main door and make a right to get to the venue.
Tickets are all $25 advance and $30 at the door. The seats are all great but come early and enjoy a cocktail at the bar.
