Here at NWJP, we are pretty lucky--lucky to have enough support from the community to be able to hire much-needed new staff, and lucky to be able to find great people to fill those roles.

We are therefore excited to introduce you to Amina and Jesús!

Amina Rahman | Financial Administrator

Amina (she/her/hers, they/them/theirs) has studied and worked at the intersection of immigrant and worker rights issues for a decade -- from organizing janitors with SEIU and supporting fast food worker organizing in Portland, to being part of a democratically-run collective that managed a consumer-owned co-op. They look forward to supporting the important work of NWJP from behind-the-scenes doing administrative, financial and budgeting work. She spends her free-time reading speculative fiction, playing tennis, and hanging out with her newly adopted Cowcat.

Jesús Valdovinos | CWRP Paralegal

Jesús (he/him/el) is a paralegal working on the Cannabis Worker Resilience Project. He attended Oregon State University, where he received his BA in Philosophy with a minor in Religious Studies, and studied abroad at Rangjung Yeshe Institute in Nepal. Prior to joining NWJP, he was involved with electoral campaigning and advocacy with the AFL-CIO and ACLU. His commitment to immigrant rights and the labor movement began as a teenager, and stems from his own experience of supporting his family through the difficulties facing working class immigrants in the U.S. On his time off, you can find Jesús at a concert, playing basketball with his friends or watching Star Trek with his fiancée.
