This morning, April 12, Mayor Muriel Bowser, the Office of the Deputy Mayor for Planning and Economic Development, DC Government agencies, and community partnershighlighted current efforts to bring more people to Downtown DC at an event held in Union Station.
The event marked the kickoff of Jazz in Bloom, a series of concerts organized by the Office of Cable TV Film Music and Entertainment at Union Station, highlighting the importance of the transit hub as the portal to downtown DC.
Barrel is celebrating its 9-year anniversary now through Friday by introducing a mini makeover of the dining room and launching multiple new menu items from both the kitchen and the bar.
New “shareables” have been added to the menu such as fried chicken and hot honey biscuit sliders, “barrel nachos” with short rib, and cheese-stuffed polenta fritters, as well as new sandwiches, pastas, and sweets.
There is also a lineup of new cocktails like the “’tis the Season to be Cherry” (Fuyu Japanese Whisky, rose syrup, cherry bitters), and “Blackbelt in Agave” (apple-infused tequila, blackberry, lime), as well as new barrel-aged cocktails, new happy meals (beer, shot, and toy combos), and non-alcoholic options.
All new food items minus the pastas, as well as Buffalo Trace Old Fashioneds and Manhattans, will be on special for $9 each now through Friday, April 14.
