After School Art

Calling all young crafters!  Don’t forget to register your kids ages 6+ for May After School Art.

Join Stephanie for some crafting fun. There are some great crafts planned for this month!

Reading with the Dogs

May 31st 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm

Therapy dogs and their volunteers will listen to children of all ages practice reading aloud. Choose a book from the library, or bring a favourite from home!

Coffee with the Fire Chief

May 4th 10:30 am - 12:00 pm

Town of Hanover Police Chief Knoll will be our guest for coffee. Join us for a lively discussion about the community with Chief Knoll.

Everyone is welcome to attend. Please register at the library to secure your seat, but all are welcome to attend this free event.

Tech Whiz:
Two-Factor Authentication

Tech Whiz is back! Join us for another Tech Whiz session on two-factor authentication. You might have noticed that some apps and websites are introducing multi- or two-factor authentication. If you’re not sure what this is all about, you’re not alone. Our tech helper will teach you everything you need to know.

Coffee with a Travel Agent

Join us for another Coffee With! This month’s guest is travel agent Jeremy Wilhelm of Marlin Travel. Join Jeremy for a lively discussion about travel post-COVID-19.  Topics include: 

  • packing for a trip with only a carry on
  • things to consider when traveling
  • applying for a passport
  • the inside scoop on travel following the pandemic

This is one session you won’t want to miss! Register at the library to secure your seat, but all are welcome to attend this free event.

Hanging Basket Sale

Victoria Day Long Weekend:
May 18th - 22nd

It’s back! The 14th annual Canadian Tire Hanging Basket Sale is happening over the Victoria Day long weekend. Mark your calendars. From Thursday May 18th until Monday May 22nd, $1 from every 11” hanging basket sold will be donated to the Hanover Public Library.

Thank you to Dale and Cathy Cousins for their continued support of the library.

An assortment of flowers and arrangements will be available all weekend long – come every day to check out the wonderful and changing selection, and support your local library in the process.
 
We are looking for volunteers to help out at the sale! If you have some time to spare over the long weekend, please consider volunteering at the sale on behalf of the library. Contact the library to sign up. Time slots fill up quickly, so sign up early to avoid disappointment.

Victoria Day: Long Weekend

May 20th - 22nd

We will be closed during the Victoria Day long weekend in May. Drop in before the long weekend to check out some books, games, movies and magazines for weekend entertainment. Access our online resources online anytime on our website.

We are open during our regular hours on Friday, May 19th. We will be open 10:00 am - 5:00 pm.

We are closed:
  • Saturday, May 20th
  • Sunday, May 21st
  • Monday, May 22nd
We are open for our regular hours beginning on Tuesday, May 23rd when we will be open 10:00 am - 8:00 pm.

Hiring Summer Students

Last day: Sunday May 7th

We are looking for enthusiastic and creative individuals to join our team during the summer!

Programme Assistants will be working with our Children & Youth Services Librarian to provide engaging and educational programming for children and teens. 
Start date and hours are flexible.

As required by Young Canada Works (YCW), the candidate must have been a full time student before the summer and intend to return to full time studies after the summer. For additional requirements, visit the Young Canada Works website.

We're excited to bring you another Adult Summer Reading Challenge. This year we will be hosting our first-ever book bingo! We will be giving away an awesome prize basket at the end of the summer. Stay tuned for contest details.

July 1st Program

We are open on Saturday, July 1st! To celebrate Canada Day, we will be hosting programs all day for all age groups.

TD Kid's Summer Reading Club
