The new 2021 vintage from Francois Chidaine has just landed and is available now. The wines are not yet reviewed.
The vintage was something of a refreshing change, being much cooler than those of the recent past when vigneronnes were desperately trying to 'preserve freshness' through the heat. They are generally more mineral and lively but leaner too. Although this being Chidaine, there will be no shortage of depth or concentration; so you can expect a different expression of the same Chidaine style.
Chidaine's gloriously concentrated, beautifully balanced and characterful Chenin Blancs from Montlouis and Vouvray are as good or better than any others made. They are quintessential expressions of this hugely underrated, noble grape. Given their affordability, they make a powerful case as the finest wines available from anywhere at this price.
