                            Update on General Election

Filling OUSD Vacancy: The Board of OUSD has until May 20 to decide how to fill the District 5 vacancy created by Mike Hutchinson’s resignation from that seat to assume the District 4 seat. They can appoint someone or order a special election. If there is no decision by May 20, County Superintendent Alysse Castro will call a special election. 

Suit Against ROV: Oaklandside has filed suit against the County Registrar of Voters to require him to produce records related to the Nov. 8 election. 

Improving Election Administration: The League and partner organizations have submitted comments to the County Board of Supervisors on ways to foster greater transparency, accountability and public involvement in  election administration.

Personal Priorities

 

                  

Alameda County League representatives met recently with State Senator  Nancy Skinner and Assembly member Buffy Wicks. For our fourth and final in a series of recaps, here are their personal priorities.

Skinner: CA is about to be the 4th largest economy in the world. As a state, we have incredible success in the world and yet high levels of poverty that mostly affect women and children. Read more.

Wicks: There are inequities around education funding.  We need more investment in career readiness in high school and at community college. Read more.
