Come to the Democracy Center on Friday, 4/21, to learn about Harvard's complicity in the climate crisis - then march in Boston afterward!

Next week, during the Harvard Climate Coalition's Intersectional Earth Week, we're holding a teach-in at the Democracy Center about Harvard's complicity in the climate crisis.
Amid a worldwide divestment movement, Harvard has taken steps to cut its ties to the toxic fossil fuel industry by pledging to divest its endowment from fossil fuels. But significant ties remain: Harvard still helps fossil fuel companies grow their businesses, suppress strong climate policy, and greenwash their reputations. Harvard also takes part in other problematic climate practices, such as international land and water grabs. And these abuses are propped up by Harvard's governance structure, which leaves it unaccountable to most of its community.
As climate justice activists, we believe an important part of Earth Day is asking more of the institutions around us when it comes to climate. This is an important time for Harvard: we have a new president and the new Salata Institute for Climate and Sustainability, and we have an opportunity to lead on climate justice issues. But to do so, Harvard needs to listen to its community and fully prioritize people over profit.
After the teach-in, we'll talk about ways to get involved in the campus movement for climate justice. Then, at 3:00pm, we're taking the T into Boston to join the Extinction Rebellion Earth Day March! XR Boston is fighting for no new fossil fuel infrastructure in Massachusetts. FFDH will provide signs and cover transportation costs. We hope to see you there!
In solidarity,
Fossil Fuel Divest Harvard
