Dear Village Club Members,
Welcome to the start of Reps Rugby Season!
For those that are new to your club and/or representative rugby, Northern Suburbs Junior Rugby Union (NSJRU) is the pathway to representative rugby for players in the four village clubs (Drummoyne, Hunters Hill, Mosman, Norths Pirates) making up the Northern Suburbs District.
For development and representative rugby, a player is required to play in the age group they turn in the calendar year.
This year, we will again be working closely with the Northern Suburbs Rugby Club ("Norths Seniors"). Norths Seniors play in the Shute Shield competition which is the premier club rugby competition in Sydney and a pathway to higher senior representative honours. Our representative teams will play in identical kit to Norths Seniors.
Under 10s and Under 11s NSW State Gala Development Squads
Players turning 10 and 11 this year are selected in a development squad that consists of two graded teams (18 players per team) per age group.
These teams participate in a two day round robin NSW State Gala tournament against other districts.
The gala is on 15 and 16 July 2023 at Eric Tweedale Stadium, Granville (Two Blues Rugby).
If your child is interested in trialling for selection, please fill in tthis form by 6pm on Sunday 23 April 2023 - There will be no extension of this deadline.
Selection trials will commence on Sunday, 30 April 2023.
Trials and training will run each Sunday afternoon through to the NSW State Gala weekend. Venues and times will be confirmed closer to the date once the SJRU comp draws are confirmed. (There will also be a 4-Way Gala competition played against Eastwood, Parramatta and Warringah at Boronia Park on the weekend of 17-18 June to warm up for the NSW State Gala.)
In 2023, the U10s and U11s will be coached by paid coaches with the possible assistance of a parent coach where needed.
Assistant parent coaches and managers will be appointed after selection of the teams.
The teams are selected by an independent selection committee for each age group.
If your child is selected to play there will be a $300 registration fee to accept their position in the squad.
The jersey presentation for these teams will take place at North Sydney Oval on 1 July 2023.
Under 12-16s NSW State Championships Teams
Players aged U12s-U16s are selected in one team (squad of 23 players) to compete at the NSW State Championships on the June long weekend (10-12 June 2023).
The NSW State Championships are at the following venues:
U12 – Camden (Camden Rugby Park – Camden Rugby)
U13 – Orange (Waratahs Fields – Orange City Rugby)
U14^^ – Dubbo (Apex Oval - Dubbo Roos)
U15 – Concord (St Lukes Ovals – West Harbour Juniors)
U16^^– Port Macquarie (Stuart Park, Mid North Coast Junior Rugby)
^^ These venues will host the State Champs for both the Boys and the Girls competitions.
If your child is interested in trialling for selection, please fill in the form by 6pm on Sunday 23 April 2023 - There will be no extension of this deadline.

Venues and times will be confirmed closer to the date once the SJRU comp draws are confirmed. (There will also be a 4-Way Gala competition played against Eastwood, Parramatta and Warringah at Boronia Park on the weekend of 20-21 May to warm up for the NSW State Championships.)
We have appointed independent coaches.
Team officials will be appointed to assist post team selection.
The coaches will be supported by an independent selection committee for each age group.
If your child is selected to play there will be a $300 registration fee to accept their position in the squad.
The jersey presentation for these teams will take place at North Sydney Leagues Club, Cammeray on the evening of Wednesday 7 June 2023.
Accommodation has been reserved by NSJRU for U13/14/16s playing out of Sydney. If your child is selected, these details will be made available to you for you to confirm your accommodation booking. This is an additional expense and is not covered by NSJRU.
U12 Development squad
Like last year, there is also an U12 Development Squad this season.
The U12 Development Squad gives players not selected to play in the U12s Team at the NSW State Champs in Camden the chance to represent NSJRU at the SJRU U12 Development Gala on 8 and 9 July at North Narrabeen Reserve (Narrabeen Tigers).
When registering to trial, please make sure you note your chilld's availability for this weekend if they are not selected for the State Champs in Camden.

PLEASE NOTE: Expressions of interest to trial for Rep rugby close 6pm, Sunday 23 April 2023.
As soon as training venues and times are confirmed, we will let you know. The first trial for all age groups will be held on the afternoon of Sunday, 30 April 2023.
