Youth Arts Event (YAE)

Have you or someone you know got a passion/talent to express yourself in a certain art form? The former WISE Youth Poetry Event is expanding this year to include mixed media art forms on the topic “surviving violence”! You can participate in dance, music, vocal, poetry, mime, drawing or painting.  If you are, or know a youth between the ages of 13 and 18 years, please sign-up by registering at info@wiseottawa.ca.

You might find yourself on the stage at the Ottawa Little Theatre in mid July with your performance/entry. You could very well win a prize!
We can’t wait to see what talented youth we have in this community!
This project is being done in partnership with the Ottawa Arts Council who will be recognizing and supporting all youth who enter.

Self Defence Workshop

WISE hosted a self defense workshop in recognition of International Women’s Day. We were joined by a number of enthusiastic participants who were very appreciative and found it so empowering. It was so nice to get back together in person and have an enjoyable learning experience. This self defense session is usually part of our Personal Safety workshop.  If you have a group that is interested and would like to book a PSW, contact our office by email at info@wiseottawa.ca or by phone 613-230-6700.
Building Women Up

Good news! We are starting up the building Women Up Workshop series in partnership with Home Depot  in Gloucester beginning in early April. This is a series offering renovation workshops for women – teaching hands-on skills to do drywall, some basic plumbing, flooring, installing locks and peepoles, installing a ceiling fan, bathroom fixtures and vanity … Registrants have been sending their names in and we have a good turnout for this workshop.  We hope to have some news very soon about additional series at other locations.remember, these workshops are all free and so empowering! If you want to put your name on a waiting list, email info@wiseottawa.ca
Women on Wheels

WISE staff are working on arrangements for a new partnership for this year’s series of Women on Wheels.  We have so many requests for this workshop. We are excited to find a new partner to get this series rolling in the late spring.

Here is a photo from one of our previous workshops:

WISE Annual General Meeting April 27

Join us on April 27 to HEAR OUR GUEST SPEAKER Councillor Ariel Troster. Ariel is the new Councillor for Somerset Ward who took office this past November. She is also the Women’s Liaison on Council.
