It has long been our tradition to send out a Wish List with things which our participants would be thrilled to be able to have/use/enjoy in the coming months. Last year it was all about Climate and greening our environment. The entire list was fufilled! (Many thanks!)

This year our focus is on our big girls: our "Waskubwa" who arrived rather unexpectedly in February. These are girls aged 14 to 21 who, by misfortune, were not permitted or unable to enter or continue secondary school. Our school was asked to be one of 311 schools in the country to participate in a World Bank funded, Tanzanian government administered alternative secondary school program.

We started with 24 girls last year. Here some are with Mary Liwa, the chairperson of our partnering society.
(You can see the girls' dorm in the background.)

Here they are, planting trees on our eastern plot! Greening the environment!

The girls studied Form 1&2 this past year, and they will start Form 3&4 in January.

They will be joined in January by a second group of girls, who will begin Form 1&2.

Therefore we will be needing to house the new girls also.

CanaDares Christmas 2022 Wish List!
Dormitory:

We need about $30,000 CAD
to finish the second floor of the waskubwa girls' dormitory. Any amount is greatly appreciated!

Classrooms:

We are now occupying two of our primary classrooms for the waskubwa studies, but in 2023, for the following year, we will have to build three classrooms for the anticipated three groups. Cost of each is $17,500 CAD.
Bus Fare:

We don't have a Science lab, so our girls are bussed to the local high school's labs.
User fee: $10 per month times ten months.
Teacher Wages:

We have three fabulous teachers whom we hired for the girls' program. We will need two more.

The program does pay the teachers - but not as much as we pay our regular teaching staff.

Last year we supplemented their salary by $100 per teacher per month.

It's likely that we will need to again this year.

Matresses:
We need 40 mattresses for the incoming waskubwa (as shown) each about $35.
Uniforms:
- Grey t-shirts ($10)
- Purple cotton skirts ($25)

- Grey track suits ($20).
School supplies:
Paper, pens, pencils, erasers, rulers, highlighters etc...
Any $$ amount appreciated!!
There are many other "incidentals" which we provide for our waskubwa.

Becoming a monthly donor, or increasing your monthly donation would help ensure that we can cover the costs of this very important program. Your contributions are greatly appreciated, no matter the amount.

We wish you all the blessings of the season, and so does our expanding family in Tanzania!
