Two-Spirit Artists Mini-Grants Update

Thank you to all that applied for our Two-Spirit Mini-Grants. We're happy to report that we received 28 strong applications! This response reflects our Two-Spirit community’s creative force and the need to support our artists. Our panel is in the midst of their review work, and we hope to announce winners in the coming weeks. Thank you to the many community friends who helped us spread the word about this exciting opportunity.

Now, onwards to our many exciting offerings in April and the coming months ahead!

Two-Spirit Online Talking Circle with La Johnny

Exciting news! Back by community request, BAAITS presents a series of Talking Circles with Two-Spirit practitioners. This monthly series is created by and for Indigenous Two-Spirit & Indigiqueer TG/GNC LGBQIA+ peoples to circle up and focus on our individual and community wellness. Attendance is free, but registration is required, and we ask everyone who attends to be respectful of our Two-Spirit and Indigiqueer focus. Two-Spirit Artist & Culture Bearer Workshops

We're excited to introduce you to our new monthly series: the Two-Spirit and IndigeQueer Artists & Culture Bearers Master Workshops! Each month we'll invite Two-Spirit and IndigeQueer Artists & Culture Bearers to share their gifts of artistry and medicine with other members of the BAAITS community through in-person master workshops.

A Two-Spirit Artist/Culture Bearer Master Workshop
3 Nights: Weds-Thurs-Fri, May 17-19, 2023

Limited Enrollment Requires Commitment For All Three Sessions / Location TBA

Join us for a 3-night workshop on the art of Drag Transformation, culminating on Friday night with an opportunity for participants to shine in a curated group performance (show). Our internationally-celebrated Two-Spirit drag artists and performers, Landa Lakes and Papi Churro, will facilitate instruction in make-up, lip sync, wardrobe do's and don'ts, and stage presence. With participants' approval, parts of the transformative practice will be recorded and documented. As space is limited, Indigenous Two-Spirit applicants who can attend all three sessions will be prioritized for enrollment. Stay tuned for the registration link.
