Star Island has substantially increased the funding for their Financial Grants program this year. If financial considerations are an obstacle to your attending Star Island in 2023, we encourage you to apply for a Financial Grant. 

The confidential grant program is available to individuals and families who have registered for a conference. If you need to apply prior to registration please be in email 

Please consider the following when applying for grants
Financial grants typically will only cover a portion of room and board, not the full amount.  Also, grants do not cover any programming fees required by the conference.

Financial grant applicants are encouraged to register for the conference they wish to attend. However, if doing so presents a financial hardship, we do not require that you do so.**

There is no limit on how many years you can apply.

When we plan out our time on Star Island, there are so many things to think about. From deciding what to pack to figuring out what time to arrive in Portsmouth (do you want to get a delicious lunch in downtown Portsmouth before the boat? Of course you do!), many factors go into organizing ourselves for a week away. One of the aspects of setting ourselves up for success is planning financially. In order to help all of us get ready for the summer, Star Island’s staff, in consortium with the Beloved Community Project, has created a Star Island Calculator. Sometimes it’s hard to do the math on the fly about how much lobster will cost for your family of six! This tool was designed in hopes that it would be helpful for people as we all plan our summer on Star Island to be aware of the costs and be able to set it aside in a time frame that works for all of our individual situations.
