Destinations Detours and Dreams April 2023

Behind The Scenes

Although the official start of spring occurred in March, it was still very much a winter month in my part of the world. Snow remains on the ground and temperatures are cool. Windchill was still being talked about in the last week of March. It is now a few days into April and more snow is on its way later in the week. Yet, there are a few signs of spring. Potholes are showing up in the streets. Road construction has begun. The river skating trail is now closed. And I love the extra hours of daylight, not all of which are the result of the change to daylight savings time.

A Peek Ahead

I've started planning for a small road trip into Alberta in early July. As I write this sentence, I realize that only someone who lives in a country with distances as vast as that of Canada might call a drive of over 1,400 kilometres (870 miles) small.
