Disability Advocacy and Migration Laws

Australia’s migration laws discriminate against people with a disability or a health issue applying to enter Australia.

Welcoming Disability is a collaborative partnership between Australian Lawyers for Human Rights, Down Syndrome Australia, and other organizations.

They are calling for the Australian Government to change the Migration health requirement.

You can learn more about Welcoming Disability and get involved on their website.

 Writeability in Darebin

Writers Victoria is working with Darebin City Council to run 'Writeability Goes Local'.

Melanie Barbaro joins Writeability for self-exploration, to connect with community and to rekindle her passion for writing.

She wants "to learn new things, get out of the house and connect with people. It's usually either really hard or impossible for me to do these things, so I've been feeling very isolated. I'd like to expand my world a little."

Writeability is a creative writing program for writers and aspiring writers with disability and is completely free.

The sessions are now fully booked, but you can visit
Writeability Goes Local - Writers Victoria to find out more about the program.
