Easter Greeting and Easter Joy!
"Christ Is Risen! He Is Risen Indeed!" How many times have you heard this greeting on Easter Sunday morning?  This is the greeting that we traditionally use on Easter and the Sundays after Easter to celebrate the reason for our hope in Christ. We know Christ has risen from the dead for our salvation and HE will never die again, AND He promise all who believe will have a resurrection like His to everlasting life. This greeting has connected Christians over the millennia ever since the actual events of Christ resurrection from the dead.  "Christ Is Risen'. He Is Risen Indeed!" May God give us a renewed joy and hope as we experience and proclaim that truth to the world!

This Easter we are offering two celebration services one at 8 am and the other 11 am. In between the two services are the Easter breakfast (serving from 9 am- 10:30 am in the cafeteria), and an Easter Egg Hunt at 10am, which starts in the gym. We look forward to seeing you on Easter morning!  Christ is risen!  He is risen, indeed!

Pastor Carl
If you are a guest with us today, we rejoice that you have joined with us in our celebration of Earth’s greatest day, the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead. Faith is a wonderful church family.  If you  don’t have a church family where you are connected to Jesus, we invite you to make Faith your church family.

Coming Soon: Stewards Living with Purpose

Our stewardship theme for this year is Stewards Living with Purpose.  God gives us the wisdom and faith to understand that He is our source and purpose for living.  Our stewardship emphasis will help each of us answer the question: “What are you doing with the gifts, abilities, energy, relationships, and resources that God has entrusted to you?”  The real issue of stewardship is whether we are managing our blessings and possessions as though they are ours or as though they are God’s.  The pattern of our lives is shaped by the decisions we make. Satan deceives us into believing that we own what we have and that we need to depend upon our own abilities and resources to meet our needs.  God wants us to depend on Him and to serve only Him.

In our four-week emphasis, we will focus each week on one of His purposes for us.
Week One: “Do All to the Glory of God”  “So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God (1 Corinthians 10:31).  In all we do, we should strive to give God the glory that He deserves.  With the help of the Holy Spirit, we can live lives that seek to please and honor the Lord.  As people of faith, our purpose is not to live for ourselves but for Jesus.
Week Two: “Be My Witnesses” “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be My witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth” (Acts 1:8).  We have a story to tell of Jesus and His love, because Jesus told us, “You will be My witnesses.”  The word “will” is not a command, but indicates what we will do because of what God has done for us by the mercy of Jesus and the power of the Holy Spirit.  Our sins have been washed away by Jesus’ blood.  We are witnesses of our regeneration and new birth in Jesus by the Holy Spirit.  We are to tell of how God has given us new life and purpose
Week Three: “Serve One Another” “For you were called to freedom, brothers.  Only do not use your freedom as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another (Galatians 5:13).  By nature, we are selfish, self-centered people who want to do what we desire without interest in serving others.  By God’s grace, we, as redeemed children of God, want to show our gratitude to God for Who He is and what He has done for us through Jesus by serving others.
Week Four: “Be Generous in Every Way” “You will be enriched in every way to be generous in every way, which through us will produce thanksgiving to God” (2 Corinthians 9:11).  The Apostle Paul tells us that God will bless us in every way so we can be generous.  God will give us both the resources to give and new hearts that desire to give.  Through our giving, the recipients of our gifts will thank us for giving, and they will also thank God for giving us loving and giving hearts that make our gifts possible.

May God help us all use our lives and blessings to fulfill the purpose that He has for each of us.
SCHOOL SECURITY UPDATE

Our hearts were broken and are still aching over the school shooting in Nashville this week. We pray that God will comfort the grieving families in Covenant Christian School and Church. At times like this, we have questions regarding our own Faith Lutheran School security. We take the safety of our students and staff very seriously. You should know:
  • Our security procedures are reviewed and updated annually.
  • Students are not left without supervision.
  • Our staff participates in active shooter training.
  • Sewell Mill Library is our safe place if we must evacuate our school.
  • Exterior school and church doors are locked during the school day.
  • You must have a key or be buzzed in.
  • We have exterior and interior security cameras, including in the classrooms.
  • We are making plans to provide beverages and snacks for our local Cobb County police officers. We will invite the officers to drop in at Faith during their shifts.
  • Staff members carry their phones while on campus.
  • Staff members have a special crisis application on our phones for many types of emergency situations and emergency communication.
  • Our Comfort Dog Hope visits periodically to help our students feel safe.
  • Criminal background checks are required for employees and volunteers.
  • Most importantly, we pray for God's protection each school day.

Pastor Call Committee Update

We have received the call list from our District President that contains the pastor candidates for us to consider. This list consists of names the congregation nominated, and some that President Rockey included who fit the pastoral attributes we are looking for.  The next step in our process is for Rev. Jeff Jordan, our circuit visitor, to call each candidate to see if they are available for a call. As he receives those answers, he will pass that on to the committee and we will begin to review the information we have about the candidates who are available. We will then select pastors who fit the ministries and needs of our congregation and school and then begin the interviews.

This entire step will likely take some time to complete and is dependent on how soon Pastor Jordan is able to reach the pastors on the list and how soon we can complete the interviews. After the interviews are completed, a special voters meeting will be held. At that meeting the call committee will present to the congregation a short list and information about those pastors who are believed to be most qualified for our ministry. The final selection is up to the congregation to vote on and extend a call.

We realize Pastor Schneider will be retiring in just a few months, and are mindful of that, but at the same time, do not want to rush this process. We are relying on the Holy Spirit to guide the committee and our congregation as well as to guide the pastors being considered for a call. We trust in God's timing.

If you have any questions about this part of the call process, please contact me, Tim Lambert, or Vinny Caracci. Please continue to pray for the Holy Spirit to give us all discernment and wisdom during this time.

Blessings,

Karen Cerny
Pastoral Call Committee

Ms. Lori has been married for 22 years and resides in Woodstock, GA.  She is an empty nester.  She has two daughters ages 21 and 19.  She is a full-time nanny for a family in Milton.  She says, "I am very happy to be apart of the nursery at Faith Lutheran Church."

Upcoming new Mini Event:
  • We will be raising a kite to symbolize the Resurrection of Christ on Easter Sunday following the 8:00 AM service near the drop off area/walkway at the Church’s side entrance.
Currently, this is a tradition celebrated in Guyana, South America on Easter Monday (public holiday) where Christians and non-Christians fly kites.  Understand this is the only country in the world where kite-flying symbolizes the Resurrection.

This kite is the traditional shape; however the large size is normally reserved for kite competitions vying for the top prize.

Sunday Morning Coffee Fellowship
needs some good help

Don't you enjoy getting together on Sunday mornings, having a little treat to eat with your cup of coffee or tea?  We need more people to sign up to bring treats to share!  We need two people each Sunday - you may either make something in your kitchen or pick up something of your choice.  You've been there - you know the routine!  Treats need to be delivered by 9am to the cafeteria, in time for the hosts to set up the set them out.  (If no one signs up, no treats ...)  The signup sheet is on the table on Sunday mornings - check it out.

Speaking of hosts (who for now are Pauline Hines and Muriel Pfaff, thank you!) who get the coffee brewing and make a nice display for us, we could use more help with that, too!  Every now and then, they go visit family and need someone to cover for them.  They set up the coffee on Saturday, so all one needs to do on Sunday is get it brewing, set out the treats, and clean up afterwards.  If you're interested, speak with one of them on Sunday morning - they'd be more than happy to convince you to sign up to help or answer your questions!

Faith's Food Pantry

Brumby again served 240 to 250 families on April 4th. We delivered 210 food bags and 210 toiletry bags. These numbers include an extra 10 bags each specially geared to Seniors and those went quick.

The below are advertised grocery prices for Kroger, Publix, Aldi, and Lidl. The sales ads run from April 5th through April 11th for Kroger and Lidl. The Publix sale dates run March 29th through April 8th - due to Publix being closed Easter Sunday.

The pantry needs
peanut butter, jellycorn bread mix (Jiffy, etc.), Tuna Helper,  pasta and pasta sauce,  canned meats,  canned chili and pasta,  cereal, 2nd breakfast items like breakfast bars and pop-tarts, and pudding cups as our shelves need to be restocked to make more bags. Toiletry items are always needed - bath wash, shampoo, toothpaste, toothbrushes, deodorant. We are hoping to make and deliver our next toiletry bags the end of July for back to school. Also, we are collecting re-useable grocery bags for our Senior bags so we can keep them separated from the other food bags. If you have any bags you are not using, please put them in the basket in the narthex or the blue bin under the mailboxes.
