Well, our study of Ruth, God's Amazing Love for You by Courtney Joseph has come to an end. The study book promised "an in-depth Bible study," and it delivered what it promised. Patty, Tammy, Miray, and Sarah did a thoughtful, thorough overview of each week's chapter, and the small groups were full of discussion, thoughts, and insights. Ruth spoke to me as never before. I don't believe there is any accident or coincidence in God's plan; not only did we go deeper in the book of Ruth, I believe as we met each week we went deeper in our friendship and sisterhood with each other...and that is God-planned. I look forward to our next study and the adventure ahead as we continue to travel together, much like Ruth and Naomi did and found eternal blessings.
With love,
Carol

"Arisen" Art Show
The CCLW sanctuary was turned into an art gallery with a great coffee house vibe on Saturday for an inspirational art show put together by our own Daniel Carter. The theme of the show was "Arisen," and the featured artists rose to the occasion, submitting work that spoke to the power and glory of the resurrection. The twist to this art show was that instead of the art being available for sale, it was used as an outreach tool.
Artists from CCLW included Al and Becky Araoz, Giuliana Hoskins, John and Mary Hilger, Susan Manzoor, Andy Young, and Daniel Carter; they were joined by local artists Laurel Dahlen, Michael Low, and Jessica Chapman. Jennifer Yomogida was the emcee for the evening, and Joevannah Cortes treated the crowd to a live vocal performance.
The afternoon concluded with a free lottery drawing for art that was donated by the artists. Please pray that the gospel message that was presented might bear much fruit.

Monthly Devotional
By Jan Browning
From Living Daily in the Word: Devotions by the Ladies of Calvary Chapel Living Word (2013)
"You are the salt of the earth, but if the salt loses its flavor, how shall it be seasoned? It is then good for nothing but to be thrown out and trampled underfoot by men.”
Matthew 5:13
I came across this familiar passage spoken by Jesus, and it stood out to me as a reminder and an exhortation of the responsibility that is mine to remain strong in my faith and to be an example to those who do not know Him. Jesus calls us the “salt of the earth.” Salt, as defined in Webster’s Dictionary, has many uses. It is used for seasoning and preserving. It gives tang or piquancy to anything. Most importantly, it is something that preserves, purifies, or corrects.
In this world, the tenets of the Bible are perceived as harsh, uncompromising, and outdated. Sin is no longer seen for what it is...CONTINUE READING
