Hello Everyone,
Spring has sprung in our neighborhood even though we are seeing temperatures in the thirties at night. I'll be content with daytime temperatures in the sixties for quite awhile because that's the way our winery cold room likes it. We have such an easier time maintaining cellar temperatures and humidity in the western part of the state. Our true Northwestern neighbors love to enjoy glasses of wine outdoors in spring to take advantage of the natural outdoor bouquets that go so well with our wines. We need to appreciate the spring while we have it for such a short time. Please pair your outdoors with :Nota Bene soon.
Remember that we will deliver 3 + bottles free of charge to the Seattle Metro Area. Let us know if you are missing our wines and would like delivery. We wish everyone a wonderful 2023 enjoying our wines with friends and family. Hope we see you soon.

We've had a great run with this striking vintage of Ciel du Cheval Vineyard Red Blend, but the time has come to announce its diminishing cellar quantity. We have just two cases left and have adjusted our online quantities as such. Please take this opportunity to grab a bottle or two, but if you act fast you can have it all. It's 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 33% Cabernet Franc, and 17% Merlot, all from Ciel du Cheval on Red Mountain. It's an elegant wine with the bramble, black cherry, and structural tannins that Red Mountain is known for.
Here's a critical review...

Lastly, the 2016 Ciel Du Cheval Vineyard comes from a great vineyard on Red Mountain and is 50% Cabernet, 33% Cabernet Franc, and 17% Merlot. Cassis, candied violets, lead pencils, and hints of orange zest all emerge from the glass, and it's more medium-bodied, with a great mid-palate, ample concentration, and that classic sense of minerality that I almost always find from Red Mountain fruit. As with the other wines here, it's beautifully balanced and will evolve gracefully for 15 years. Drink 2020-2035. – Jeb Dunnuck
Wine Club discounts will apply with an online purchase.
NB: Shipping via FedEx Ground requires a minimum quantity of 3 and we prefer you order in increments of 3, 6, or 12 to fill our shipping boxes.

Some of you may have heard that :Nota Bene co-owner Carol is on the board of Seattle Repertory Jazz Orchestra and a big fan of this outstanding local band. Our appreciation of local jazz and SRJO was cultivated when our son Ryan studied under Scott Brown in the Roosevelt High School Jazz Band. We have continued to grow this musical enthusiasm over the years and Carol's work with the board has grown with it. She is asking that you join her for a night at the SRJO Gala and/or attend one of the two concerts left in the SRJO season. Please write to Carol if you would like to seated at her Gala table. These Gala's are fun and full of food, drinks, and music.

Join us for Vino in the Village wine walk in the beautiful Magnolia neighborhood of Seattle. We'll be pouring in the charming Westerly Studio which bills the location as Part studio, part gallery, and art classes to boot! This sounds fun to me. :Nota Bene will be joined by 15 other Northwest wineries, so plenty of wines to see and taste.

Hello Fellow Travelers,
We are planning another trip to France in April 2024 and hope a good number of you will be excited to join us in cruising the Rhône on a Scenic boat. Check out the agenda of our planned trip that begins in Lyon and heads north on the River Sôane to Mâcon then reverses course and follows the current downstream through Lyon, Vienne, Viviers, Avignon, and Tarascon. There will be much to see and do at these ports of call. Scenic does such a great job with tours and guides. We don't think you want to miss this trip.
We are also working on a possible pre-cruise trip to Beaujolais wine region just south of Mâcon. We have been exploring the Cru Appellations with regularity over the past several years and think this region has so much to offer especially the lesser know varietal gamey noir. This NYC wine shop does a really good job with Cru descriptions and locations. If that's not enough, this reference has even more to say about history and winemaking and has great maps.
In the photo above we are looking upstream on the Rhône River from Le Pont Saint Benezet and below a 90 degree turn gives you this view of the Papal Palace in Avignon.
Please let us know if you are interested in joining us for an April 2024 adventure in France.
Best wishes,
Tim and Carol
