To the Burr Ridge Community,

Happy Spring! The Village of Burr Ridge is dedicated to bringing our community together, and I see examples of this throughout the Village every day. Whether gathering in one of our beautiful parks or enjoying one of the many events the Village supports, community is central to what we do. Next month we will celebrate and honor those who serve our country with our Annual Armed Forces Day Celebration. The Burr Ridge Veterans Memorial Committee is currently accepting nominations for the Jack Schaus Patriot Award. Details can be found below.

For the 29th consecutive year, the Village has been recognized as a Tree City USA for its tremendous efforts and commitment to urban forestry. The benefits trees bring to urban environments are endless, from energy consumption and cost reduction to cooler temperatures, cleaner air, higher property values, and healthier residents. In honor of this recognition and in observance of Arbor Day Week, the Village will hold a tree-planting ceremony for Arbor Day at Harvester Park for all to attend. Stay tuned for more information.

It takes a team of hardworking individuals to maintain Village operations. Our Public Works Department does a fantastic job of preserving and maintaining our community areas, and we are very grateful for all they do. We are currently seeking individuals who are enthusiastic about putting their skills to use in the community and we have a number of open positions in the Department of Public Works. Read below for more on these opportunities.

Wishing you and yours a beautiful start to spring.

Sincerely,

Mayor Gary Grasso

Construction to Begin on Road Program

You may have noticed that the Village has already begun resurfacing streets as part of its annual Road Program. This project will replace broken curbs, as well as grind, repair, and finally pave a fresh asphalt layer that restores a “new” street. The Village is resurfacing the following streets this Spring: Aintree Lane, Grant Street, Hunter Court, Devon Drive, Devon Court, Bridle Court, Wedgewood Drive, Hanover Court, Saddle Court, Regent Court, Royal Drive, Westminster Drive, Morgan Court, and Tori Court.

Work should be completed by late May. Please be cautious and drive slowly on these streets!

Utility Billing Changes

On March 27, the Board of Trustees amended the water billing rates for water utility users, effective May 1, 2023. It also moved the utility billing structure from every other month to monthly billing cycles. The water rates remain in a three-tier structure, but tiered quantities are reduced by half (to account for the shift from every other month to monthly). These rate changes are necessary to carry out over $12 million in water system improvements needed over the next five years.

Additionally, billing is now conducted via automatic metering infrastructure (AMI) technology. This technology allows the Village to conduct automatic reads every month and on-demand in the event of a call for service, such as a leak. If you have an autopay account set up with the Village, your settings will not be affected, but please be aware that you will now be automatically billed every month instead of every other month. We look forward to using this technology to serve you better and save you money!

Join us on May 20th

We encourage you to save the date for our Armed Forces Day Celebration at the Veterans Memorial on Saturday, May 20th. All are welcome to join in honoring those who have served our country with courage and bravery! Keep an eye out for further details. Know someone who is a worthy recipient of the Jack Schaus Patriot Award? We invite you to view the criteria here and submit your nominations by April 14th.

Concerts on the Village Green Returns

We are just a few months away! The highly-anticipated Concerts on the Green summer series is back this June. The Village of Burr Ridge and the Burr Ridge Village Center bring you a variety of musical talent with a selection of contemporary, rock, classic, jazz, southern rock and country bands to the Village Green each Thursday starting June 1st - July 27th! We cannot wait to gather with you and enjoy a fantastic lineup of musical acts right here in the heart of Burr Ridge.

Lock it or Lose it

Keeping the Village of Burr Ridge safe is a top priority! Delaying a burglar for even a short time is usually enough to prevent entry into a house, apartment, or vehicle. Criminals are targeting areas where they know residents are leaving doors unlocked. Home, garage, and vehicle doors should always be locked. An unlocked vehicle in the driveway may give burglars access to your home via a garage door opener or keys left in the vehicle. Protect your home by locking your vehicle!
