Athletes, Coaches, Judges, and Officials - 

It seems impossible that there are less than 100 days until the 2023 IBTF World Baton Twirling Championships and Nations Cup. As you can imagine, with over 2,000 athletes in this competition, the planning and organizing on behalf of the host country, participating federations, and officials is tremendous. To those who have diligently been following along and meeting deadlines, thank you!  Please continue to do so.

World Baton Twirling Day
We hope you enjoyed the incredible display of baton twirling throughout this year's World Baton Twirling Day, April 10! WOW! We were blown away by the interaction of athletes from across the globe displayed. Just another reason to be so proud of our sport. 

In This Issue
This month, you'll see several updates to scheduling and logistics below. Please read carefully! 
  • Questions related to the venue, hotel accommodations, transportation vendor, merchandise, etc. please contact United Twirl England. PLEASE NOTE: All official merchandise must be pre-ordered at www.worldbaton2023.com. It will not be available for purchase at the competition.
  • Questions related to schedule, eligibility or competition itself, please contact IBTF.
  • Last but not least, please make sure you have the updated rulebooks.

The IBTF Executive Competition Set Up Committee has analyzed the entry numbers from all federations participating in the 2023 IBTF Nations and World Championship. 
 
Here are the most important points that you need to know:  
 
   Warm-Up Details
  • The competition days begin at 8:30 am.
  • At the start of the day, practice on the competition floor will be very limited.  
  • Breaks will be limited and there will not be warm-up time on the competition floor. Please prepare accordingly!
  Nations Cup
  • Nations Cup Opening Ceremony:
    • Friday, August 4 – 6:30 pm
    • Free entry but please book tickets through M and S Bank Arena. To book tickets, click here.
  • Nations Cup divisions of 46 athletes or more:
    • Will be divided in half and run as separate Prelims.
    • Divisions will be divided by an equal number of athletes entered from the participating federations. 
    • The Top 8 (plus ties) from each of those groups will advance to a 16-person final, rather than 10. 
    • The top 10 places will be awarded.    
  • Nations Cup divisions of 45 athletes or fewer:
    • Will run as published (a single prelim division, with Top 10 [plus ties] advancing to Finals).
  • Nations Cup Schedule Changes:
    • Nations Cup 2 Baton Awards are now Monday, August 7.
    • CORRECTION: Artistic Team & Twirling Team Prelims are now Tuesday, August 8. 
  • Reminder:
    • No competition floor warm-ups before or during lunch for Nations Cup.
  Special Events
  • Tuesday, August 8:
    • The Athlete's Party hosted by UTE following the competition.
  • Wednesday, August 9:
    • Twirl Nations Clinic - This popular two-hour clinic will start approx. 45 minutes following the competition & awards. 
    • A VIP Reception for Federation Presidents & guests hosted by UTE will be held at 7:30 pm at St John’s Beacon.
  • Thursday, August 10:
    • An IBTF Forum for all Federation Representatives and Technical Leaders will be held following the competition.   
  World Championships Schedule Changes
  • Duet Final is now on Saturday, August 12.
  • X-Strut and Artistic Twirl Final are now on Sunday, August 13.
  Preferred Transportation
  • The Coach Company is the preferred transportation for airport pickups from Liverpool, Manchester, or London. The Coach Company can also provide transportation to and from training venues and/or the arena.
  Music Tests & Training Halls
  • There will be no music tests or training at the arena.
  • Training halls should be booked for rehearsals. 
  • Federation Officials: The last date to book training halls is Wednesday, May 17.
  • Two additional training halls (Hall 5 and Hall 6) have been added to the website
  Official Merchandise
  • Order official merchandise today!
  • Official merchandise will not be available for purchase during the competition. Pre-orders only!
  • Collection of all pre-orders will be Friday, August 4 and Wednesday, August 9.

Upcoming Majorettes Seminars:

For any selected judges who wish to be eligible for the 2023 World Majorette Championship in Liverpool, there are two additional seminars scheduled to cover the Majorettes disciplines. Please attend both IBTF Judges Seminars on the Majorettes’ Disciplines.

All eligible baton twirling judges have been notified of this schedule. After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the meeting.

Present topics are the completion of the formats for the upcoming scheduled competitions, working on the policy and procedures manuals for governance, competition rules, judging criteria and financial policies.
