Special Blast April 27, 2023

Greetings, Wolverines. A busy weekend in Ann Arbor.  Lots of guests.  Be cautious driving and especially, walking.  The wrap-up of many events:  Softball, Baseball, Men’s Lacrosse, Women’s Lacrosse. Congratulations to the men’s team in winning the Big Ten Championship!  Against OSU no less.  Although those down lowers, or is it lowdowners have another opportunity on Saturday. Stay strong Wolverines!

Last weekend was the dedication of the Carol Hutchins Stadium. The team did her proud.  Eleven innings on Friday. Score NW 4, Michigan 3. Saturday, Michigan 15, NW 0. Sunday, the team was fighting but NW prevailed.  Men’s baseball took two from MSU.

The Marketing and Membership Committee and Chair, Kevin Fitzsimmons, have prepared a campaign to encourage each of you to participate in bringing new members to the Ann Arbor MClub. Following is the proposal.

Dear members,

I have a very important appeal to be making to each and every one of you. It's evident that we have had two factors affect our current membership numbers as we sit today: the unavoidable fall out, now, of former members as a byproduct of the pandemic in 2020 and 2021 and another associated fact that the lunch costs directly to you from Weber's have gone up significantly, as a result. The good news is, each of you have stuck it out with us and have become our most loyal members. For that I am ever grateful and cannot thank you enough for that loyalty!

For as much as we try to find new and inventive ways to market our club and attract new members, the reality is there is no greater promoter and champion of our club than each of you!  Our recruitment campaign really begins right after our final luncheon of the season.  While our membership team have plans to expand our marketing efforts into some new areas, our board members have approved a new incentive program to enlist each of you to assist us in recruiting new members for our kick-off luncheon in August with Coach Jim Harbaugh, as follows:

Member Incentive Recruitment Program for you:

  1. Bring in a single new member & receive a free lunch as well as a free lunch for every additional new member recruited (Value $20 per lunch).

  2. Bring in three (3) new members and additionally receive a free club membership paid for the following year (Value of $60).

  3. Every member who brings in three (3) new members, automatically qualify for entry into a drawing at the next Spring luncheon - which will provide a member with free lunches at Weber's for the next entire Club year!

Note: existing member MUST be identified as their referral on new member's application - which is found on our club website at uofmclubofannarbor.com

You can print copies of our new member application directly from our website.

We know that you are our most fervent and passionate supporters and fans of all our Michigan athletic programs. When you have conversations with other passionate Michigan fans, please personally invite them to join us!  We just need each of you to make that personal inquiry and invitation.

The math is really quite simple...if every current club member brought in just a single new member - we double our membership. Please don't wait until the Fall to begin talking to other passionate fans about our beloved University of Michigan Club of Ann Arbor.  We remain the only M-Club that exclusively has all its coaches speak to you, our members, each and every week in a congenial environment where all questions can be directly asked and answered.  I don't believe I have to emphasize either, that we have another talent-loaded team returning to the gridiron again this Fall. It is a fantastic year to join our Club!

Thank you, once again, for your continued support and, as always, Go Blue!!

-Kevin Fitzsimmons

Enjoy the Spring and Summer.  We’ll miss you.  Go Blue.
