Day of Giving - Out of Dress Code Day

St. Vincent de Paul

Friday, May 5th, the kindergarten class is organizing a Day of Giving for the staff and students of St. Joseph Catholic School!  The Day of Giving is our opportunity to learn about and support a charity in the area.  That day, members of the kindergarten class will be at the school drop off waiting to collect donations. As this is meant to be a sacrifice, consider having your child earn their dollar by completing a task at home or by using their own money for the donation.  Your student could even pay a dollar and still wear their school uniform that day in support of the charity!

This month’s charity selected by the kindergarten class is St. Vincent de Paul.  The Society of St. Vincent de Paul, Cedar Rapids is a non-profit charitable organization providing assistance with food, clothing, rent, utilities, and other services to people facing economic, emotional or spiritual crises.  As a private, non-profit charity, the Society relies almost exclusively on private individuals, businesses and organizations locally for support.  Everything St. Vincent de Paul does is motivated by a sense of compassion for those struggling with poverty, loneliness, illness, family problems and many other difficulties.

If your child(ren) would like to participate in this month’s Day of Giving, they may wear Out of Dress Code clothes on Friday, May 5th and bring their donation (minimum of $1 per child; change cannot be made) to the morning drop-off.  All donations this month will benefit St. Vincent de Paul.
