#CSW67 - #GenerationEquality

Feminist Municipal Leadership towards Caring Territories and Digital Rights for All

The 67th session of the CSW took place from March 6-17, 2023 and focused on the priority theme: Innovation and technological change, and education in the digital age to achieve gender equality and empowerment of all women and girls.

 
For another year, UCLG brought together local and regional governments, partners and civil society to collectively amplify our work, and reflect on our role and progress in localizing SDG 5, challenging gender inequalities and gender-based violence, and advocating for equal political representation in all spheres of leadership.

In the framework of UN Water Conference - #Listen2Cities 
UCLG signed a Memorandum of Understanding  with the World Water Council

The Local and Regional Governments day at the UN Water Conference represented a milestone in local water governance for our constituency, bringing together national governments, stakeholders on water governance, and local and regional governments from all over the world.

Day brought the collaboration between UCLG and the World Water Council to the next stage with the signature of a Memorandum of Understanding between the two organizations and the Government of Indonesia, chairs of the 10th World Water Forum.

Throughout the MoU, UCLG, will act to “improve the representation and the involvement of local authorities and operators within the different processes of the 10th World Water Forum”, and it also guarantees specific spaces for local and regional governments throughout the event.

The Future Envisioning Exercises in May

As a first step for unfolding our Pact for the Future, Policy Councils are mandated to convene the Future Envisioning Exercises as a space of dialogue and co-creation with the Town Halls.

That is, the vision and policy priorities of UCLG that guarantee that cities are listened to and the voice of organized communities that ensure that cities are listening. All together: Political Leadership and Organized Civil Society and Partners. aiming to reach real, tangible and continuous conclusions through forward-looking consultations around 4 entry points: reclaiming the commons, redefining finances, regaining trust and rebuilding government architecture. The deliberations of the consultations have to both guide the political mandate of the Pact and the roadmap of work of our world organization.

UCLG family will meet at the Brussels Summit

We will meet during the Brussels Summit where events such as the 14th Metropolis Congress and our Bureau will take place. Join mayors, metropolitan leaders, and urban experts to connect over 4 days of inspiring ideas and solutions to help transform your city!

The Brussels Summit will also bring together the Eurocities Annual Conference and the 6th OECD Champion Mayors Summit for Inclusive Growth Initiative. It is foreseen that over 300 cities participate in the Summit, with more than 1,000 politicians, experts and representatives of civil society, to exchange ideas on sustainable, affordable and livable cities.

Our Bureau will be held in Brussels
The UCLG Executive Bureau meetings will take place in the framework of the Brussels Urban Summit, June 12-15, under the theme "Local and regional governments drive high-impact actions to accelerate common goals".

The Executive Bureau's working session will be held on Thursday, June 15, from 14:00 to 18:00 CEST, in hybrid format and will be held at the Brussels Urban Summit venue: : SQUARE Brussels Convention Centre.
 
The Executive Bureau will be preceded by the meetings of the UCLG institutional committees, open to the members of these bodies:.
